Here is the original version of the song featured in my post concerning the sad passing of Terry Hall its a typical Ska piece of the period with a wonderfully nostalgic dance video, if that was not enough the real gems are found in the comments section and in particular the references to Joey. wonderful world beautiful people as Jimmy would say.

Lemmy Kilmister, born 24th December, 1945....would have been 77 today.
77, and I bet that if he was still alive, he would have still played the City Hall in October/November.
A true rock legend, a genuine nice bloke, and a "Capricorn"....
Sad to think that all 3 of these are now gone.
Happy Birthday Lem, gone, but never forgotten.

    Hawkwind, 1972, Silver Machine.
I couldn't find a version of this with Stacia with her tits out, so this will have to do.
Different vocal range to Motorhead, but Lemmy on top form.
The album Space Ritual is still in my top 5 favourite albums ever....
Hawkwind are Sunday headliners Northern Kin festival at Ushaw Moor college 2023, though Dave Brock will be 81/82 by then.

    Fabulous.

Eight of us went in a six seater to Fulham away, from Mansfield, one Christmas and played that on repeat all the way home ...

... by the time I dropped the Nottingham lads off we were singing it, word for word, all the way through

The last time I was in Nottingham was the stop off from the Scotland game at Wembley, and when we left the last bar the barmen had to recork 12 bottles of blue Nun, they wouldn’t sell it to us by the glass just the bottle, when we got back I had the right hand side of the steering wheel in my mates bm and Reg had the left and we just aimed the badge at the white lines in the middle of the road <laugh>

Reminds me of us singing Gospel Plow one night coming back from Go Go's, our driver / harp player used to steer with his elbows while playing and driving, half way to Sunderland we hit a ditch, long story but woke up next morning wearing the vans roof light in the cranium, great days, thanks for the memory.

    love
away day stories like that one there "8 of us in a 6 seater".A mate that's got a few year on me has told me some belters he and mates had done over the years Everything from 'Borrowing" a car to drive to London then bringing it back. Overfilled car traveling to Plymouth, taking turns in the boot, dragging people off the street onto the bus to direct them to the ground when lost, then having a whip round for his troubles. Six of us went to Bristol Rovers, from Mansfield, in a five seater car. We drew straws and Mick Turnbull lost so went to Eastville in the boot.

He lost the draw in their big car park behind the away end, after the game, so jumped into the boot. As we were inching out of the car park a big fight erupted with Rovers idiots looking for Sunderland in cars and minibuses. We piled out and got stuck in but Turnbull didn't even know until we stopped at the services <laugh>

Lemmy, died 7 years ago today.
Looks quite frail here, he was doing a milk commercial, and done a bit of improvisation.....
