Just been reading about Kurt Cobain's life, inspirations, etc. I like the excerpt below. Music in general was more important to me and the lyrics were sometimes secondary. Got into the lyrics more as I've got older. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain According to Grohl, Cobain believed that music comes first and lyrics second; he focused primarily on the melodies. He complained when fans and rock journalists attempted to decipher his singing and extract meaning from his lyrics, writing: "Why in the hell do journalists insist on coming up with a second-rate Freudian evaluation of my lyrics, when 90 percent of the time they've transcribed them incorrectly?" Though Cobain insisted on the subjectivity and unimportance of his lyrics, he labored and procrastinated in writing them, often changing the content and order of lyrics during performances. Cobain would describe his own lyrics as "a big pile of contradictions. They're split down the middle between very sincere opinions that I have and sarcastic opinions and feelings that I have and sarcastic and hopeful, humorous rebuttals toward cliché bohemian ideals that have been exhausted for years."
Loved that, it brought back memories of the day I spent in the groups company, proper down to earth lads, grounded as hell . I was fortunate enough to sit in, while Kelly did his sound check a couple of hours before a live TV performance , talk about cool , he was effortless, as he and went through three numbers including this one, with only the two of us in a huge empty space filled only by his voice and his guitar accompaniment , pure magic.
This band can be a dirty word on the music thread but I enjoyed this article... ‘Liam had been drinking all night. Noel was not in a great mood’: photographers pick their best Oasis shot https://www.theguardian.com/music/2...agher-oasis-champagne-supernova-photographers
Bands like these aren't even up and coming anymore mate. The likes of savage garden,Phonics etc. Great story and memory for you that one.
So does this one Joe McDonald sang this one in the Bay Hotel back in the day, when it seemed like Sunderland was the place to be.
