Been in Scotland all week working. Wandered into an old school pub and a young lass with a guitar was on. She had the voice of an angel. She played this, which is such an amazing song. Our first dance at our wedding. Also I always remember our council street cleaner in our little village. This song could have been written for Willy. He was a gem. Never said much, but never left litter or leaves on the paths. My Dad always said he was a man to look up to, whoever you were, because he had pride in what he did. As kids we never disrespected him by leaving our litter on the path either, it just never felt right. Anyway, bloody love this song.
I remember my mates Dad playing this in 2000, first time I'd heard it at the age of 16, song got stuck in my head and I got a copy and played it over and over. Good Times, out and about with friends, June and July, not long left school. Great memories. Naturally time passes and it just ends up a foot note in life and time. Heard this again for the first time in years yesterday, and I mean listened to it, the line "Many years have passed, since thoes summer days", and f**k me, 24 years later and nearly 40 years old, hit me with a wave of nostalgia. Music can be great or terrible for memories. It time stamps no matter if you want it too or not. Great song.
