True about Barca and Real, but they operated their own TV companies until recently. Understand Leipzig comments but they are the Atletico of their league. Not signed huge players but built a canny team to challenge the best even though their patth was smoothed by Red Bull. Also, the biggest part of the clubs on the continent belong to the fans they are the biggest owner/investors.
Atletico are massive, won everything but the CL. Leipzig are **** all. I'd say they're more the leicester of their league.
champions of the league ,in europe and not conceded a goal as yet ,perhaps being compared to them rather than lots of others is not so bad me thinks bri
Not all clubs on the continent are fan owned. Barcelona and Real are to a certain extent but not every club in Spain are fan owned. The rules on ownership in Germany are more complicated but includes more of an element of fan input than here but major corporations and rich individuals can and do bank roll German clubs. In Italy, all of the major clubs are under private ownership and I'm not sure that I can think of any that have any kind of fan ownership. The premiership certainly isn't the only place where success is built on pots of money. Even those fan owned clubs in Spain have massive sponsorship deals and are helped by the way that TV rights are negotiated there. As for Leipzig, the most similar club to them is a team from their own league; Hoffenheim. Both are teams brought up from the very depths of the German league based on massive investment from massively wealthy backers.
Not meant to be taken literally but more a guide of how ownership/control of clubs varied and therefore dictated spending. Just makes my point about the cost of success and what people will pay to achieve it. Many of the lesser continental clubs still develop their players greater than we do and pay a bloody sight less in the transfer market.
