3-1 down to newcastle

they're not anywhere near the team of last year

thursday is ****ing biggg

Hmm but wur only little old Hull City and going against a big team like Everton is a tough one. I'd say play every defender we have available - preferably out of position - and then fill up the rest of the team with the least attacking midfielders in the squad, we don't want to over-commit ourselves.

Agreed. I'm going to write players names on slips of paper and draw the 10 outfield players out of a hat.

I figured if I use the Steve Bruce team selection method I might be able to figure out the team in advance so I know who to stick my first scorer bets on.

We'll play a high pressing game like we did at Goodison. It suited us actually but we haven't done it since.

This season just seems like a balls are randomly selected out of a bowl and each one represents either a player, tactic or formation. One could be forgiven for thinking it is all just made up as we go along.

I went to the bookies in the west stand ready to put a few bob on jelly first goal and then looked at the team sheet! Jelly to start every day for me!

Martinez saying they're struggling from injuries and suspensions. Can anybody see them lose 4 in a row?

Jelavic has shown his worth! Hernandez has a MASSIVE weight on his shoulders, hoping the lad can kick start again.

I didn't mean to imply that he hasn't. Jelavic has probably been our most impressive signing of 2014. Hopefully he'll go and show the toffifee men what they passed over.

He's not a natural finisher though, needing 5 decent chances to score 1. His goals per game ratio is OK - approx 1 in 3 - at both Everton and us. It was much higher playing for Rangers but that was in the Scottish fitba' league which, as we all know, is slightly below jumpers for goalposts standard. He also scored most of his Everton goals within a glorious 5 week starting period. He's been our top scorer this year but if we are to achieve the mid to low mid table finish to which we are apparently entitled then he'll need to score approximately another 7 before the end of the season.

Hernandez? It's bleeding obvious. We're all thinking or saying it. He needs to score a few goals soon or people will be saying we're been sold a pup.

We've just got to have a good go at them. Simple.

Ideally with 2 strikers.

They're on poor form too, so the best thing we can do is apply the pressure straight away.

I have a good feeling about this one.

.

I liked your idea so I used a random number generator and this is the team:

Allan McGregor

Maynor Figueroa
Alex Bruce
Curtis Davies
James Chester

Robbie Brady
Mohamed Diamé
Hatem Ben Arfa
Steve Harper

Yannick Sagbo
Abel Hernández

Midfield does look a bit weak with one of them being a 39-year old goalkeeper, one injured and the other in France, but not bad apart from that.

Hernandez and Jelavic have to start. Really looking forward to having Huddlestone back too - absolutely instrumental to the team and sorely missed.

Huddlestone's out for the Everton game. He's banned for four games.
