Yeah a win is a win. It wasn't pretty and it was barely deserved but it's three points all the same... Beyond that. Who cares?
Yep, but I still say it wasn't undeserved. Football, like any game, is about attack and defence. Sometimes you can't do both. We defended for most of the game. And did it brilliantly! Chelsea park the bus against Utd, at home for ****s sake, and win on the break, and thats seen as tactically brilliant! Whats the difference? Theyre champions and the press love them. We are just lucky to be there!
According to The Times, "The harder Sunderland worked the luckier they got as the game went on ........"
We were lucky in that both of out goals were pretty much accidental mate. Neither Graham or Defoe had control of where the ball went. They did well to put themselves in the right positions and to get contact on the ball but I don't really class either of them as deliberate.
Both shots were deliberate and both strikers had made space in the box. I can't remember a single Everton player having that much space ...... perhaps they were just unlucky or perhaps not working hard enough to get there.
As I said above our players did well to get into those positions and deserve credit for that but we won't agree on the fact that they were deliberate shots. I wouldn't even say they were deliberate deflections. The way they went in I thought Rade Prica was playing up front for us. Not really fussed enough to have an in depth discussion about it so if you need me to say you're right for this to end... You're right. Too happy with the realistic prospect of premier league football next year to squabble about anything.
Both goals were totally accidental mate. No argument there! That's the lucky part of the result. The rest was down to bad Everton finishing and awesome defending.
I'm terribly sorry for daring to disagree, I hadn't understood that your word had to be the final one ..........
It doesn't. I actually conceded that I was wrong and said you were right. Oddly enough because I wanted to avoid bickering exactly like this.
I've just read back through everything I've posted and can't see anything where I'm trying to have the last word ....... this is it though
Defoe clearly knew were that ball was going he even brought his knee up to guide it in. Perfect goal and was meant. Danny's I need to see it again before I can be sure.
How lucky is it when a proven scorer gets himself in yards of space in the box? If he'd been passed to properly he'd have buried it. The fact that he made the best of a terrible shot/pass shows great skill in my opinion.
I thought the cross hit a defender on the way to him but may be wrong. Can't find a video and 3G is set to watch them anyway in Grangetown (Middlesbrough) where I'm gigging tonight
