Jeezus that was a tough watch. Isak and even Wilson would have had a field day and that’s 2 games now with no strikers and 0 goals from open play. Can’t have a back up striker who is more injury prone than your starter so Wilson has to go for me, need someone who can come in and stick the ball in the net. Not blaming Gordon - just about everyone else - for the penalty. For me there’s no way AG should have been taking it. Bruno or Trippier should be stepping in there and taking it off him! What Howe is thinking letting AG take it I’ve no idea. Small mercies - point on the road and a clean sheet.
We need a right winger. We needed one in 2022, we needed one in 2023 and we need one in 2024. For reasons I will never understand we still have Murphy and Almiron who offer precisely zero threat. Barnes is a 1 in 5 player, and we spent £15m on a striker who can’t get a minute on the pitch. For two years the transfer decisions at this club have been ****ing abysmal. So here we are, striving to get top 8. Personally think we need to change the manager. We know every week the formation and how the game will likely unfold. There’s no excitement around the club, there’s a lack of energy. I thought today was actually a shame; we should’ve won 2-0 and were in control but it’s the same failings; Gordon’s not a CF, RW is pointless (every meaningful attack came down the left), formation is predictable, the football is predictable. I mean, it’s all fine if we just want to stay in the league comfortably. But whatever we’re doing won’t win trophies or get back to Europe.
We should have signed someone for the right wing. It was what we were crying out for, instead we used 95% of the window trying to sign a CB no one rated for too much money. Then Howe, like a ****ing simp ass bitch, says there ain't many that can improve this squad. In the bin with him
Not one shot on target second half before or after subs. Tbh it's a point and I never believed this side would be competing for top 6 anyway so it's going about right.
The most irritating thing for me is our failings are well known yet never addressed. Injury prone strikers, no threat from RW. Marc Guehi isn’t the difference today, but according to Howe we can’t find/buy better players than Wilson, Almiron or Murphy. The Osula transfer is looking as mystifying as the Ruddy and Odysseas ones.
They won't change the manager. Just won't happen. I can't foresee a single scenario in which a majority of the fans say it's time for him to go. Until that happens the board won't be arsed. We aren't winners, not in the DNA
Barnes legs had gone you could tell with him not chasing back what ever you think about Murphy, one this is, he never gives up
Ultimately the squad and side is not as good as many like to think.. we can all tap dance around that fact, point at 2 years ago whatever, but this is going to take another 5 years to get where I think some people think they already are. Top 7, slow build and try to accept and enjoy the journey.
Bollocks - we guarantee viewing figures, they couldn't give a fcuk about what happens during the match
They could probably have taken all their players off and we'd still find a way to not score..so wasteful with the final action. It's not really good enough.
We played okay, one of our better away performances. We know we have no right wingers and no strikers, and yet each transfer window goes by and we dont do anything about it. Osula, £15M, why? If Howe isn't going to give him 20 mins or so when we dont have any fit strikers then what's the point? I really hope Mitchell sorts out our transfer policy and we get what we need in Jan. Please forget about Guehi. We can cover CB this season. Its RW, a striker and a man mountain DCM that we need.
