His English is not too bad at all, much better than I expected. He'll improve dramatically too now that he's here.

To be fair to Lawrenson he got them all results wrong bar 1. He has to be the worst score predictor ever. You think they may try someone else or then again there is his comedy value.

Very concerned about Williams , took a very hard knock stopping a crucial play and played hard the rest of the way . Guarentee he's hurting and will miss some training at least .A superb day for our general of defence , he's got 9 days to heel is the only good thing , 9 days for Guidolin to work with the squad also .
The perfect weekend this one , on many levels .

Absolutely fantastic win. Played some really nice stuff in the first half. Had a few chances at the start of the second, then tucked in and showed our metal and desire. How Everton were even allowed to have their corner at the end that led to Coleman's miss beggars belief...it was 94:20 when the ball went out - that should have been that. In the end, no harm done and we can savour these 3 points. The hard work starts now though - the only way to truly consolidate a win like this is to follow it up. Losing to West Brom would leave us no better off - so we have to pick up at least a point there and keep ticking along. A win there and we'll go above them. We need to keep chasing the teams directly above us now. Take each game at a time.

Onto the team - thought everyone did their bit and contributed to the win. Special mention to Taylor who I thought was excellent. I've given Taylor a lot of stick in the past, but he was getting forward and making things happen today - if he can add some quality attacking play into his game on a consistent basis, then he will be a huge asset for us. He put in some monumental blocks too. Ki was probably my only concern - again looked very flimsy in defence and just isn't quick enough to play the wide-left point of the diamond. Not really sure who could play instead in that system - but his workrate and desire does worry me at times. He was quality in possession as always though.

Agree, though your second paragraph has nailed everything about our best and worst today, I also thought Taylor was brave and positive, one of his best games ever, while Ki has struggled for form of late, and looks so lethargic and ponderous, hope he hits some form soon, we need him to be at the top of his game, thought Siggy and Ayew were very hard working, and finally, what the hell was Monk thinking by dropping Leon this season? he makes us tick...........<ok>

Never, only once before in the league cup a couple of seasons ago at home ., interesting you use the old way of spelling "Welch"

"The archaic form Welch has it's roots in Shakesperean period English (early 17th century) in which thousands of English words had a variety of spelling modes, with no perceived correct form in existence. Words were spelt according to personal author perceptions, phoenetics, common usage and fads.
There is a school of thought that the revival of Royal 'Welch" Fusiliers in 1920 gave the regiment an ancient gravitas and historic splendour which would give it authority at the end of the war when battalions and regiments were being disbanded.

'Welsh' comes from the Anglo Saxon word 'wealsch' meaning 'foreigners',which is how the 6th century Saxon invaders viewed the inhabitants of these isles. The inhabitants themselves called themselves 'Cymry' meaning comrades. Cymry being the people, and 'Cymru' being the land. An 8th century anglicisation of 'Cymru' produced 'Cymbry' or Cambria. This can also be seen not only in Wales proper but in other parts of Britain which survived the anglo saxon invaders for centuries such as Cumberland = Cymruland'; also Northumbria = North Cymruland."
and here endeth todays history lesson

I would imagine Northumbria is more likely to come from North of the Humber?
