They're an excellent team who will finish in the top 7. There's a huge gap between them and below them in the league in terms of quality. It's not that you couldn't have got a result, just that it's not a 'bad' result but just an expected one really.
The result was expected but from the commentary I heard (Everton website) - there was very little effort from our players except James Vaughan.
Pretty sure Kone was a right back when we bought him, so now we are struggling there and he seems to have lost the ability to get close to a Centre Forward, perhaps he will have more luck with wingers? The space he allowed for the third was a horror show!
The very least you expect is effort. Yes Everton are an established Premier league side, but most of their starting 11 did not start and they are hardly riding a wave in terms of form. Poor performance and very worrying that we have dominated without too much effort. Not scoring, and conceding goals easily, is a bad combination, whoever you are playing and whatever league you are in.
Only saw highlights but I just can't get my head around how much we stand off teams and how much time and space we give opposition players to pick passes and play trough us. All 3 goals were woeful. I don't think another team in the country would have conceded it. Gibson backing off, one pass sliced straight through us, a couple of flicky fanny tackles no one brave enough to actually put a proper challenge in, bit of bad luck with how it fell to their striker but it should never have got there in the first place. Second goal.....Was Kone the only player plating in defence, dragged out of position to right back (when there were three actual right backs in our side) one pass and then there was no one at centre half? Third goal, stand off give their midfield all the time in the world, granted it was a great first touch and finish from Niasse. These were fringe players who should have been busting a gut to try and force their way into the team. The very least I expected from a Grayson side was effort.....
I rate Everton quite highly and reckon if they had kept Lukaku and with Pickford in goal they would have been flying now. Pickford to Lukaku -goal
Everton have a very good squad and some fine up and coming players, but we made it so easy for them, that was the big disappointment.. With such a thin and frankly weak squad at the managers disposal, we need an injury free run, and more of the James Vaughn spirit throughout the team to put distance between us, and the trap door, anytime soon. This being our only real goal for this season.
