no one has mentioned it, but I think Reeves added a real purpose and energy down the left. Both Clyne and less so Richardson found themselves out of position and out manned today. Not sure if Reeves is a leftback as I thought he was more attacking but the team looked more balanced when he came on
Reeves started as a LB throughout his Academy days, but nowadays he's more of an attacking midfielder Very versatile player to have in the squad - can cover LB, CM, LM, and In The Hole I like the look of Reeves, and clearly so does Adkins having given him a Prem. debut
Just got in, Rodriguez should not be on the wing. Fonte was back being ****, yoshida played good. Clyne and Richardson were left far too exposed by Lallana and Rodriguez. Everton were class and shut up shop after their 3rd. Baines and Pienaar and Fellaini ran the show.
You stunned everyone into silence! What happened did the site go down? Came on here this morning expecting lots of groans and hardly a post!
Not a single card in the game, was that down to the Referee? Would normally expect an away team, putting in a lot of effort, to pick up a few, are we being to gentlemanly?
I don't like watching from a live stream and had it on the PC rather than sat watching the whole time. It seemed to me that early on we worked hard to close Everton down up until they equalised and then appeared to give them a little too much space. We didn't look disasterous, but hard to tell from a stream.
No-one will get slated for a fair assessment or critique. People will get slated for over the top and repetitive doom mongering
And it's a better forum for it. Being positive isn't about being a happy clapper, it's about staying with the team.
I have been saying for a long time we need a bit of steel and a lot more bite in our play. We have twice the talent Stoke have and yet they will do better than us.
Don't agree Godders. Still think they will struggle this season. Take Crouch out and you stop them. Will be disappointed if we don't finish ahead of them!
What you're seeing Godders is a team that isn't as well organized as it could/should be. Understandable with the changes we made over the break. Stoke might finish higher than us this season, but after that? Probably not if we continue to build to plan. We see ourselves as being better than alehouse football and I'm glad we're trying to instill a bit of style.
Love the way we try to play football, its exciting and good to watch, I just think sometimes we need horses for courses and should play a bit more defensively in games away against top sides. Yesterdays team was very attacking and must have been a great game to watch. However going toe to toe with these teams away from home will see us on the wrong end of a result more times than not. If we don't take the chances we create you can be sure the other side will create as well and teams like Everton and Arsenal will not waste them.
There wasn't a single card in the Arsenal away game either, or in the Wigan home game. In fact, we've only picked up four yellows all season - and one of them was for Clyne running into the crowd (Fox, Morgan and Hooiveld were the other three). Likewise, the opposition have only had four yellows in our matches. Three for Villa, plus Nasri. I'm not quite sure what conclusion I'm making here by the way, or what I'm suggesting, before anyone assumes I am saying something.
