With Lewis out, Seamus Coleman is going to have a field day down our left flank. Add in Richarlison, who is clever player, and I can't see a happy ending come 5 PM. We need to reproduce the Bournemouth performance if we are to get anything from this IMO.

I would be inclined to put both Tettey and Amadou in centre mid Aarons left back Byram right Godfrey and Zimmermann at centre back Stiepermann behind Pukki and Onel and Buendia on the wings

Yes, that would be my preferred lineup too Duncan, though maybe with Cantwell starting in place of Onel. Todd offers more by way of defensive cover and triangular play out of defence á la Man City game.

Interesting about Onel and Todd. I think Onel is better defensively but there's not much in it. Hernandez has been the one bright spark in our attack of late and is a danger on the counter, so I'd go with him. I can see that Stiepermann gives us a more physical presence but for me he's been disappointing this year. If Lewis doesn't play, we will have another makeshift defence even if a very rusty Zimbo starts. More protection will be needed, but if Aarons goes forward with abandon, Everton will most likely score first and go on from there as has happened so often of late.

I think Stiepermann has been made to look "disappointing" for the same reasons that Pukki could be said to have disappointed over the current winless run. Marco knits the intricate passing game we favour together, but if the other corners of the triangles are missing because Lewis, Aarons, Cantwell, Buendia and the freer of the two DMs are either below par (Aarons, Buendia, Cantwell latterly), or lack confidence to move quickly enough into attack mode when being pressed high, Marco is left isolated and without options. As a result he has largely been confined to playing duets with Pukki to the detriment of both -- as well as having to track back assiduously to help out a faltering defence. It's the old story; the way we play needs every cog in the in the gears to be engaged and working smoothly, and in the last six games too may haven't been.

First chance to see Amadou in his chosen position...and he's on the bench?
Think I might have from 2 - 6 on the bench in my starting 11, fitness allowing?
Farke is consistent to say the least .

He has his favourite 11 and unless they are injured he sticks with them .

Presumably Aarons will play on the left. And while I too would like to see Amadou, in this case the intent shown by the selection of all three of Tettey, Trybull and McLean is the most important thing about the starting eleven.

Good line-up, aiming for strength in the middle and more cover for the defence in what seems to be our Plan B line-up. With Buendia and Stiepermann on the bench this seems a genuine change and I hope it works.

DF said in his press conference that there was also a Plan C and a Plan D if needed! If this afternoon goes badly, I guess we can start speculating what those might be! <laugh>
