This is well observed General, especially about the variations that can be achieved through the use of different players within the same system. Not only are they round pegs in round holes, but they are chosen to play their natural game, rather than trying to adjust it to suit a system. That makes it much harder for the opposition. This is the problem for both Hooper and Lafferty, for example, and to a lesser extent for Johnson, who lacked the pace AN is looking for on the flanks, as both the wide players and the FBs have to get back quickly if the ball is lost. This is what they failed to do against Newcastle. It wasn't the system at fault, it was the players, as Martin admitted afterwards.
I wasn't there mate, so relying on second hand info and won't argue with your perspective. It's always quiet there these days mate, apart from the derby, United and when we get really arsey, lol. Enjoy your season, I'm sure you'll do OK, you've got a decent manager there imo.
It was awfully quiet considering how full the ground was, still it gets like that at Carrow Road sometimes. I've always been a Everton fan, although 2nd of course to my local team, I was at all the FA Cup finals in the 80's & the 94/5 win over United. Always enjoy my footy Tobes, wether we win or lose or whatever league we're in, it's in the blood. Good luck to you and your team, as I said previously I met some nice people on Tuesday night and enjoyed going back to Goodison.
Didn't go to the game and didn't even watch it.... sounded flat talking to guys who went and we were possibly very lucky to progress, maybe the atmospehere was driven by the poor performance and also the recent passing of HK? But we move on into the next round and have a fighting chance of a trip to Wembley if the draw is kind to us
