Sam going isn't a done deal yet.

They've others to talk to. Sounds like Sam just happens to be the first.

    Hope remains.

Add to your summary also, that you've hired and fired like it's going out of fashion and that is flushing money every season, plus it would seem your transfers are structured over the long term, I believe you were still paying for O'Neill signings as recently as last season.

Palace have new injection of funds, as do Everton, West Ham have ambitious owners in a new stadium, Saints have sold tonnes of players for big money (something you guys rarely do), Leicester will have additional money to spend after last season, Stoke seem a well run club with a generous owner, then you have rich clubs, like United, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs.

That's 12 teams that I wouldn't expect you to compete with financially this season at least.

You might have a richer owner than many of them teams, but rich owners mean nothing unless they want to plough their own money in.

Like Bri says, the guy at the top is responsible for his own business model, that he has implemented, he surely can't be pointing fingers for big losses after 7 years, if he is, all that tells me is he's not paying anywhere near enough attention to his own investment.

I'm not sure he has any other option, only hindsight would tell you what he would have done differently.

I think I get what Wandy means - (although might be wrong!) Football is not like any other business. If a normal business was run the way most football clubs are they'd have gone under years ago! That's my take on things anyhow - very few football clubs make a profit and can remain successful in the premier league.
yeah our turnover is really healthy £101m up to 2015 but wages are 77m of that!

The longer this drags on the more likely someone will snap him up.

:emoticon-0148-yes: Bri - You 're right we need continuity at the mangerial level and as things are we are not looking in a good position- hope our young guns can step up to the plate and carry us forward if we have the disruption which seems on the immediate horizon - lets hope IF a new manager comes here he needs minimal assessment time of the current squad and youth or we will find ourselves in our recent usual state - in bottom 3 minimal points after 10 games with both our neighbours getting all media attention <doh> -

Have looked at instagram and it appears to work much like twitter - i.e. if you're famous and your account is not fake you get the little "tick" next to your name - none for this account so I'm going with fake!

If a manager comes in and DOESN'T want him then that manager shouldn;t be managing a football club! This is why this deal makes no sense. It should be done regardless of our gaffer as he wants to be here, he is next level (at least!) considering where Sunderland are as a club so why can;t the club sign him? Chelsea did it without a manager

    It's Yann's account, 100% and it's a genuine conversation.

Not Sunderland's fault necessarily, he could be asking for £100k a week and a signing on fee of £10m for all you guys know.

Sunderland’s bid to re-sign Yann M’Vila has taken a fresh twist after the Rubin Kazan midfielder has returned to his native France.

The Black Cats pursuit of last season’s loanee M’Vila has stalled over recent weeks, with Kazan demanding a hefty transfer fee for the 26-year-old, despite only six months remaining on his contract.

    Yann M'Vila.
Sunderland remain eager to reunite with M’Vila, as does the player himself, after he made comments on social media earlier this week reiterating that he wants to return to Wearside.

Kazan see no future for the French international at the club and he was not included in the squad that flew to Austria earlier this month for a pre-season training camp.

And M’Vila, along with compatriot Chris Mavinga - also surplus to requirements after spending last season on loan, has now been given permission to return to his homeland.

Kazan claim this is due to a visa issue after the pair returned late to pre-season training last month due to paperwork issues.

But there have been reports in France that M’Vila and Mavinga were not happy at being left to train alone, or with the training facilities at the club.

Furthermore, neither have yet applied for a fresh visa.

However, despite the fractured relationship, Kazan have been in no rush to sell the £100,000 a week M’Vila, with the Russian club very secure financially and prepared to play hard ball over the transfer fee.

That has been the factor which has delayed the deal so far and could well see it drag on until the latter stages of the transfer window.

M’Vila, himself, publicly confirmed during the latter stages of last season’s loan that he wanted to stay at Sunderland after reviving his career at the Stadium of Light.

And he again appeared to stress those views in comments from his Instagram account this week.

When asked if he would return to Sunderland, he said (sic): “I want mate, but its not my choice.

“I want Sunderland not another club but the choice is Sunderland.”
