After 5 goals in the last 7 games, including a fantastic 30 yarder yesterday, and with blinding speed, I doubt theres many Everton fans who don't rate Coleman this season Tuckin. He was a great buy at 150k from Sligo. I'm only comparing Jagielka to Davies...who is much better IMO.
I must admit that the scepticism I've come across regarding Coleman may be a little out of date by now - he appears to have had a good 18 months.
So why is Martinez interested in Davies if they are that good? Simple reason...he's better than both the CHs he has right now and he thinks he can get him on the cheap. Well I think Bruce knows just how good Curtis is and how valuable he is to the team. Certainly no deal in January Roberto.
The black french lad whose name escapes me is about 300 years old. He'll be retiring soon. I think he'd be backup till he goes.
Well Davies is far quicker and more agile than Distin. What was wrong about the Jagielka comment? He is painfully slow and technically poor on the ball, not denying that he is a good defender but Davies has been better than him this season as shown statistically by this infographic http://164.177.157.12/img/graphics/798.jpg
But they didn't say "oh, he's English - he's worth more", They just made a bad signing. Torres cost Chelsea even more so how does that work?
What happens after the move is largely irrelevent to the price, any transfer can go tits up afterwards. Torres prior to the move had been one of the best strikers in the world for a number of years. Suarez had been scoring for fun in Holland with about 80 goals in 110 games (yeah yeah Altidore I know, not over that length of time though), Andy Carroll had scored against the likes of Ipswich whilst playing for a PL standard side in the Championship and had a good 3 or 4 months at the start of the next season.
We're going off track here, I asked WHY someone being English makes them more expensive? Referencing the most ridiculous transfer in history doesn't answer that.
Anyone else think Everton have an outside chance of the title ? I've only seen them live on TV but I was mightily impressed with them at Arsenal and they dominated Swansea yesterday. I know it's a long shot but it would be good for the game if so.
I hate that graphic. It suggests that all players have been given the same circumstances. Hull are obviously under the cosh in more games than Everton and as such will have to defend more. Jagielka is by far the superior defender.
I hope they do, as you say good for the game. Dunno how big their squad is though, top teams kick on after Xmas.
Ahh, you were asking why the practice happens. I read it though you were asking why people had the impression it happened.
Good PR, got to have a number of home-grown players, easier to settle them in, loads of money in the PL... There are a number of reasons.
You think Davies is going somewhere to be backup.????? Especially to a Frenchman in his mid-30s who Davies would leave eating dust over 20 yards. You must be joking. You're impressions of Davies, which you made abundantly clear before we signed him, seem to have been formed years ago. Also compare Davies and Jagielkas statistics this season if you want to update your opinions.
Such a simplistic and inaccurate way to look at things. What about a good team against a poor team? The CB will have to win plenty of aerial battles in the middle third if the poor team play long balls to clear the onslaught. Also in a better team the CB has far more attacking opportunities so will be involved in play there.
Aye, definitely. There had to be a real six or even more horse race possible - but Everton, Liverpool and ManC are very strong. It will all come down to who does not let teams like Hull City AFC turn them over.
If you read above i've already said he won't go. Jagielka is the better defender. Simple as that. I can only assume that you're assuming that Distin is slow just because he's 30. He's probably the fastest CB in the country.
Bollocks. Kompany, Koscielny, Luiz, Kaboul, Sakho, Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Cahill, Davies, Lovren, Jones, Smalling, and so, so many more.
