I personally think we'd get absolutely battered if we played that on Saturday, just wouldn't be able to keep the ball.
Pierre and JWP are excellent at maintaining possession. I think that Romeu is well overrated by Saints fans personally.
Agree re Romeu, but to go away to a Marco Silva team who are going to press us as much as they can and have 3 midfielders on the pitch then we're just going to get dominated in midfield. Redmond over JWP for me too.
Yes I wasn't really thinking about the oppo, just musing on which team I would like to see going forward into the season. It will never happen of course.
Oh sorry mate my bad, thought you meant for Saturday I wouldn't be against seeing something similar in certain games but not for a game like this. I actually wouldn't mind keeping the back 3 for tough games like this.
McCarthy Cedric/Hoedt/Vestergaard/Bertrand Hojbjerg/Lemina Redmond/Armstrong/Elyounoussi Gabbiadini Could swap Gabbiadini for Ings, or swap Redmond out for Ings with Gabbiadini playing on the right. In any instance, we need pace on the pitch and a willingness to get in behind; you don't want to dawdle against a Marco Silva side.
Romeu wasn’t great on Sunday, but neither was Lemina really. Not sure I’d drop them both though; we need a bit of physicality in midfield, a muscular presence. Romeu probably is overrated-by me, for one. At his best he’s a boss, and I don’t think any player has a better attitude, which counts for a lot in my book. Probably had his best season under Puel so far, not sure why tbh.
It wasn't so long ago that Romeu was our player of the season...perhaps it said more about the rest of the team than it did about him. He is one of the good guys, so I hope his game will pick up....he does seem to keep getting picked, so presumably managers appreciate him. Lemina hasn't progressed as much as I hoped from his initial performances.
The thing with Lemina is you rarely seem to get an in between, he'll either be good which is very good or bad which will be utterly awful. Bit like Lovren I suppose.
I remember after Puel had gone, Romeu saying that in ore-season Puel had put his arm around him and told him he was his main man and he wanted him to boss that midfield and protect that defence. He must have been walking about 7’ Talk after that and he played that way too. His job is to block, interfere, intercept, protect and break up the oppositions play. Someone else’s job is to find the fancy pass or dribble past 3 players. Amazing bit of management from that bloke who was apparently no good.
the thing is there is no way everton deserved a point last time out versus saints at goodison. WE was robbed
Don't count you're chickens until theyve hatched. Still several more days for them to run into each other at training
Hughes press conference: no new injuries, Stuart appears to be ok, Moi had a tightness in his hamstring, but is responding well. No players leaving apart from possibly a couple of loans to get game time. Last season regarded as bump in the road, now want to get back in top half and challenge for European places. Pleased to have Ings arrive and he has settled in well....feels he has options with the strikers. So good to have an English-speaking manager....doesn't matter how good their English is, it just seems easier to follow a conversation with Mark.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...le-man-city-v-huddersfield-brighton-v-man-utd Merson gone for 1-0 Everton win....if I wasn't a Saints fan I might agree with him. As it is, he is wrong.
