Hey guy, saints fan here in peace :)

just after a bit of advice for our game next saturday.
im coming up by train from southampton. just wondering the best way to get to white hart lane.
i've been told to goto clapham, change train there down to seven sisters (get off have a few beers) then board the train again upto white hart lane station.

is that the best option? or is the underground from waterloo better option?
got told the other way for drinking reasons, as theres meant to be a good selection of pubs around seven sisters, and not that many around the ground?

any help would be great. first time visiting your place hence the question. really looking foward to it. and good luck for your fixture this weekend.
 
There's more pubs around Bruce Grove, the station in between 7 sisters & White Hart Lane than there is at 7 sisters.
However, if you're wearing saints colours you'll find it difficult getting into the pubs!
An alternative would be go to Liverpool St, plenty of pubs around there, then get a train to the Lane from there. Takes 25 minutes and they run every 20/25 minutes.

Cheers for the reply junction, i shall not be wearing colours, they've become a royal pain in the arse wearing them to away games these last few years, for getting a few quiet pints.

is there no pubs around the ground?
 
The closest pub that serves away fans is the 'Elbow Room' half way up the high road. The landlord is a 30 ton mega-elephant who eats Úraguyans washed down with a couple of pan-galactic gargle blasters for breakfast so I wouldn't go upsetting him.
 
As junction pointed out, the best option is often to do your pre-drinking at Liverpool St. Lots of good pubs around there and the trains to WHL go every 15 mins or so... Can have a few tinnies on the way too.
 
There are a couple of pubs/bars near the ground.
Bell & Hare will be packed and you have to show your match ticket to prove your a home fan to get let in.

Near the ground is the blue bar, next door to a sainsbury's local, is ok. Doesn't get too rammed inside and there's no problems getting in.

To be brutally honest if I were not a Londoner, I would generally try to avoid Tottenham on the few visits I made to the capital - there are nicer places in the city to spend your afternoon!

This. We all love Tottenham the team but Tottenham the place is, how do i put it, not the best.

Yeah Liverpool Street is your best bet mate, there's a pub right outside the West exit called the Hamilton Hall, it's a Wetherspoons too so decent prices.

In the Tottenham area itself, like others have mentioned it's a **** hole to spend an afternoon in (I live in the neighbouring town Edmonton, which is equally as bad!) and 95% of the pubs won't allow you in if you're gonna be in your teams colours.

One of the best Ethiopian Restaurants in London is in Tottenham, fantastic Injura. But then I'm a foodaholic
 
Good day out in north london yesterday, shame about the result :(

the only bad point for me other then the scoreline was nearly getting ejected for merely singing a song.
basically the steward was trying to get away fans to sit down when i was walking up from the concourse (at half time) when i heard a bout of "stand up if you love the saints" started getting sung, so i joined in whilst walking back up to my seat to be prompty tapped on my shoulder and get told i was on video and that i could be ejected for it.

answers on a post card please. nearly ejected for singing a song is pathetic, of course if was racial or something you could understand but. stand up if you love the saints....

This happens to home fans too, a few years back it caused major issues. Don't hold it against you, stewards hate people standing at WHL full stop.

We get told to sit down as well, I've never been threatened with eviction though. Sound like an over zealous steward.

Glad you enjoyed the day, we didn't deserve the 3 pts, we were aweful. Your finishing let you down, you should have been out of sight before we scored.
 
Yeah it was a good day out.
i think a draw would have been a fair reflection on the game itself, and it would be typical that a ex saints player would score the goal. some results didnt go our way either which puts us right back in the mix

Were you on the upper tier? The stewards don't usually try all that hard with the lower tier of away fans, I find.

Stewards at WHL have always been quite strict but these days it's ridiculous, I got told to sit down when I was standing right at the back row of the family stand once :D

At the end of the day it's the stupid laws that don't allow safe standing so really it's no fault of the club for enforcing it, if anything did happen they'd be totally liable and it'd be very bad for the club. As for the stewards it's got to be one of the worst jobs around, you can't blame them for being grumpy and throwing their weight around.

When we go away, we take our own stewards who work with the home stewards (including at St Mary's). This does seem to be an effective way of avoiding confrontations like you unfortunately experienced yesterday. Might be worth Southampton considering this ??
