...... were only following orders !
I've come across some stupidity towards the fans ( in particular STH ) - but last night stupidity was taken to a new level ( or should that be depth ? )

People will probably know that STH of the GRS can choose which turnstile to enter ( either at the Town end or Rainham end ) -but - Match Day ticket holders will NOT be allowed entry at the Town end (( where I normally enter - as I did last night. )) The turnstile operative will tell holders of Match Day tickets to go to the Rainham End turnstiles (( don't get me started on this stupidity )).

So---- wearing my replica Gills shirt, I entered the ground ( using my season ticket ), I proceeded along the front of Block H of the GRS. I noticed that this block had been given over to Blackpool fans. This is nothing new. In the past, Gills fans would simply walk past to their seats. Recently there have been temporary metal 'barrier' rails placed across the walkway - but half way along the Block - instead of at the ends - where they might have been of a little use !

I am yet to work out the point of these barriers before the game starts (( I can understand that they are used to help prevent Gills fans using the 'facilities' at the Town end at half time )). These barriers serve absolutely no useful purpose before the game - in fact - they hinder the passage of Gills fans from reaching their seats -- and-- if any crowd problems were to arise, they would obstruct the quick 'escape' of Gills fans from the scene. With their position at half way along the Block, Gills fans will already be in amongst 'away' fans if/ when anything 'kicks off.' .......If the Club were in fear of any problems, they should not allow any Gills fans to enter the Town end turnstile in Gordon Road....... anyway..................

When I reached the 'barriers', I was stopped by Mr.Nazi - sorry, I meant Mr. Jobsworth ! He looked at me. I gave him credit that he would see my Gills shirt and not think that I was a Terrorist - or a Blackpool fan who had paid £40 for an 'opposition' shirt and decided to wear it (( I'd rather be considered a terrorist than a total idiot.))

Mr. Nazi asked me " Are you a season ticket holder?" ---- it's funny what little can wind me up these days !I replied " Yes." Mr. Nazi asked " Can I see it?" ( no 'Please' - but what can you expect from a monkey? ). I replied " I've already shown it at the turnstile - when I used it to get into the ground - I wouldn't have been allowed to enter [that] turnstile if I wasn't a season ticket holder." Mr. Nazi said " I still have to see it."

At this point I have to say that; Even if I only had a Match day ticket for the game, neither it, or my season ticket would have been for Block H -- and ( the irony of the situation is that ), I would not have been permitted to remain there - and would have been 'escorted' into the 'Home' section of the GRS (( which is where I wanted to go without encountering utter ridiculousness )) ---- BUT---

I then remembered what I have been saying lately - ' there is no cure for a lack of commonsense ' --- so - for a quiet life - I took out my season ticket and waved it mockingly under the nose of Mr.Nazi.

When I took my seat I spent a few moments watching Mr.Nazi. I was interested to see if he would continue to be so obedient to his orders -- why was I not surprised to find that Mr. Nazi soon got bored of 'following orders', and allowed commonsense to break out.

I am [actually - and genuinely] annoyed at the crap to which I was subjected - and I will be contacting the Club on the matter --- what chance have I got from reasonableness from the Fuhrer ?

I think the Rainham End summed up the new 'policy' by the Gestapo, when they described the Blackpool goalkeeper just before the final whistle.
