Swap deal with Portsmouth ??? Dermot Desmond should save Pompey and re-register them as Celtic and bingo (entry into English football) ... Play a few seasons in League 1/the Championship then gain promotion to the EPL! Have one weakend team in the SPL <norangers> and a stronger one in England! Two Celtics = good tim(e)s.
That's neither here nor there. My point stands - a 6 point margin (or indeed any winning margin above 1) under the old '2 point for a win' system is a 'bigger' winning margin than it would be under a 3 points for a win system.
Anyway Nev, my point is that it's wrong to look back to Rangers 9 in a row run as some great period of scottish football when teams outside the OF were challenging for the title. They weren't in general. There was only 1 last day decider during that time, whereas in 3 of the last 4 seasons the title has been decided on the last day of the season.
As far as I am concerned if only 25% of the current rumours are true and from what I have witnessed over the last 40/50 years then there is no way that Rangers should be allowed into the SPL immediately. By the way the conference is not an option. However I am now having my doubts of the partiality of the administrators. Mr Whyte chose this firm, the same firm that worked for him when he took over Rangers. The take -over is now been scrutinised but I think the administrators will use their influence to make sure their co workers have done no wrong. I think we are having a soft touch administration, on one-side we have the administrators and on the other side ex Ranger player is the Scottish Football players Union Official. Between the easy going Whyte "men" and the Rangers Union man no redundancies within the first 3 weeks of players. Un heard of anywhere else !! The SFPUO was noticeably quiet when two Celtic players had their lives threatened last year, but now he is a hero.
