Only 20k Spent this Summer so why has Evans failed to back Mick with any cash?


In my opinion it is nothing short of a bloody disgrace and it is now time for Evans to sell up and leave. Mick will not want to be involved in yet another relegation scrap and will seriously consider his options over the next few months if we show no signs of improvement.

You can bang on about formations and tactics all you like but without a few quality players in the team it will not make the slightest bit of difference. Mick has definitely lost his mojo and I feel his disappointment. He will be in demand again soon by far more ambitious clubs and I will not blame him if he leaves.

We need to spend some cash NOW or face the consequences of yet another long hard season of toil and struggle. McCarthy should not be punished by the mistakes of the other clowns that have come before him during Evans reign.

Pretty sure reading between the lines we are trying to get the finances in place this season.
* Got the high wage earners off the bill, check.
* Spent very little on players, check.
* Going for category 1 academy, check.

We simply are not going to compete for the upper ends of the division THIS season sadly! However, when you look at other clubs and how they .are being run, perhaps if we wind the clock forward 5/10 years we will be pleased with how things are
 
Lost interest or taking a new direction to ensure the club has a good long term future, that can fund itself?

Either way, I think its impressive that we've assembled a good competitive squad for such a little amount of money, no longer filling the squad up with loans, looking to the academy etc.

What's more worrying to me is that we're not/haven't been selling for money, that's one of the key reasons ITFC (not ME) has limited money to spend.

When MM went to wolves Lescott was sold for £6million funding his arrivals for the season. The season before that Henri Camara was sold for £5 million.

Unfortunately our big sales in recent seasons have been sucked away by over the top wages and transfer fees. We haven't sold anyone since Wickham and attendances are going down, its no wonder we're lacking on available funds.
 
As much as I appreciate the merits and attributes of Mick McCarthy, I can't imagine many appealing clubs will be fighting to take him off us anytime soon.
 
Some very valid points from all the previous comments.
I agree with Westlakes comments but Mike also has made a very good point in relation to unable to sell to increase funding. Other than Cresswell we dont have an obvious £1m+ player within our ranks so thats another route closed off. Our Sponsor is our owner so again limited 'new' cash for the club
The biggest thing for me, and I have posted it many times before, is the debt interest which we pay to the ME group on a yearly basis. If, like many other owners, he gave the cash to club as an interest free loan we would have millions in additional cash available each year. Its the interest payments that are killing us currently. The ME group would still be able to call in the debt but it would sit at a constant figure rather than getting higher with each season.
 
The evans era so far looks total cacky poop, one good season will change that though. I feel if we do have that one good season the club will be sold to the highest bidder.
 
5 games in guys, from what I have seen we have not had much luck this season so far, yet another deflected goal on Saturday, the original shot was never going in. We did create some good chances again on Saturday, more than the home side, their keeper will not have a better game this season.
IMO we do have a competitive squad to finish in the top 10, from what I can remember that was what most on here were hoping for at the start of the season.?
 
JWM, while i can see your points, i would much rather have it this way for the time being. Look at it like this, we got in the **** by big money signings on big fat wages and its been a millstone round our ankles ever since.

I have a hunch that when the loan window opens and prem squads announced we will pick up some players with the prem sides paying most if not all the wages.

Getting back to the evans point, this is the first time we are being run properly and i for one am happy about it.

Completely agree with this, we have had **** luck season so far in terms of deflections, we are progessing.
 
Agree with Guru and Hoppers. We may not have spent much in transfer fees but some of the freebies we have brought in are probably on fairly good wages. Add to that the paying off of contracts and the extra money needed to take our academy to Cat 1 and you could say that we have invested well during the summer.
We've brought some good players in and invested in a couple of young'uns for the future. It's obvious that we will be looking to the academy for some of our future first teamers as well as some revenue if they turn out good enough to sell. Southampton have done well in recent years making money from their academy and have gone on to do well for themselves to boot.

I am happy with the direction we are taking and as I've said all along, I'm only expecting a top half finish this year so I'm not putting too much pressure on the team to get into the top six. We all know we need a deadly striker and whether we already have that player at Town or not remains to be seen. I know we've been saying it for a while now but now is the time for a bit of patience. Mick has a track record of taking three teams to the play offs in this division, getting promoted with two of them and I can tell you for nowt that he didn't achieve it after two transfer windows and ten months in charge.
The foundations are being laid for success over a period of time, not the premiership at all costs approach we've had lately so all I have to say is lay off the negativity and give this team some time to develop.
 
I would imagine if the right deal comes along then MM will take advantage, he's just keep expectations down and playing his cards close to his chest or maybe he really is happy with his squad. Time will tell but in the first week of September I think its a bit too early to make any accurate predictions about where we are but personally I never thought we had a chance of top6 anyway tbh.

Whilst the ME era has been massively disappointing, where would have been without his £?? Another Portsmouth or Coventry perhaps??

As to him "selling up", I can't imagine that there is a long queue of buyers, so surely better now to run the club properly, and build a team based on spirit rather than quick fix, costly, signings - been there, done that.

With MM, I think we can build this team (far better for ITFC to have a "team" rather than a shambolic collection of individuals that we had under Keane and Jewell), and without some bad luck we would have easily doubled our points tally so far. With 8 points instead of 4 we would as high as seventh in the table and everyone would be buzzing.

It'd probably be more fruitful for everyone to start supporting Ipswich Wanderers. I'm sure they'll be in the top flight before Town.
 
I just feel like I'd rather Evans walked away and we dropped down a division and started over. Town have become an embarrassment.

Probably a large part of our problem is that 17,000 people have no ambition and are happy to keep plodding along in the bottom half of the Championship.

People are mentioning Coventry but I bet it's a lot more rewarding to watch their fantastic football this season and I reckon their side would turn us over.

Watching and listening to transfer deadline day, there was never going to be any danger of a reporter being sent to Playford Road or Portman Road. We must have become the biggest non-entity in the history of the British game.

I know a few Coventry fans and I can say with the upmost certainty that very few of their fans are finding it "Rewarding" watching them at the minute.. which goes some way to explaining why more supporters turn up to protest outside sixfields than actually go in and watch the game.. they only get something like 2,000 home attendance which was eclipsed the other day by a veterans charity match held at the Ricoh with an attendance of over 10k <yikes>

I think the Coventry comment is to suggest that we could be going down the pan to the backdrop of multiple administration and calamitous ownership. Whilst we may not have experienced the greatest leadership, we certainly could be far far worse off. Though the average Cov game seems to see 8 goals so for those that do turn up they are getting value for money
