Not if they bugger off to this abomination.

Let them.go, reset things properly. I'm sure us v forest or Leeds or villa in the top flight with us all in with a chance.of actually winning it would have plenty of interest

Funnily enough I think it would do the opposite, I believe the super league will fizzle out and die within a few seasons and our league will be brilliant.

That's what you have to hope but I don't see it as a risk worth taking.
This has the potential to completely ruin football across Europe for all of the reasons I've listed.

Completely different to the original plans that mind. I'll still not be watching.

Anyway, I thought these top teams were already playing too many games in a season? Just goes to show if you throw enough cash at them they will pretty much play as many games as you want.

Its pretty simple really if the premier league clubs refuse to take part the competition will fail as that would mean the winners will come from Spain Bayern or PSG. the competition would have no real value as the top 4 teams will just play a couple of matches to decide it, the trouble will start when LIV put crazy money on offer to supposed top teams like Barca who are a financial basket case and Juve who have screwed themselves again.
Think this will probably happen this time unless the fans boycott their own teams in protest which I don't think will happen especially at Man utd as they are scrambling for any kind of glory at the minute even if it is to be invited into a competition.

I'd like a nuke to be dropped on top level football. Anything that will point things towards this direction is ok with me.

What concerns me is that it would become like the AHL in North American Ice Hockey. The tier below the elite level but who here can name any AHL teams? I'm sure most people could name at least one NHL team. The AHL teams have all become feeders to, and therefore pretty reliant on, an NHL team.

I don’t like disagreeing with you, but I can’t see any of what you are saying happening. I can’t see anything but good coming from it.

This is the bit I don’t understand, if this forms I don’t expect them to be part of the premier league at all. They can clear off to there own league.

Doesn't concern me in the slightest.

There would be some huge clubs left behind, with dedicated supporters, clubs that have been around with history, rivalries etc.

The big 6 survive unchallenged through fear that the money would disappear and whilst it would reduce, it would benefit a fair majority of clubs who are trying to go down the sustainable route, if that means everyone including players and agents have to get lesser wages then so be it

Look at us as an example, how much do we need to spend if we get promoted? Even spending all the 170 million windfall is a gamble and potentially we would spend the season getting dry humped with the odd draw or win, all so we could Salah etc live.

Im not sure i have the appetite of watching blokes on 300k a week tourturing our defence.

Football has needed a reset for a long time, maybe this is the start of it.

I suppose the thing is, the structure of football in this country from Step 6 of non-league up (and arguably below that too) is a bit like an ecosystem. Everything is interconnected and if a major change happens it has some kind of impact on everything else. Most people would agree that there is an imbalance in the ecosystem with a small number of clubs having ridiculous amounts of money (and this has become more pronounced since the inception of the Premier League and the Champions League). The Super League, whatever form it takes, would be a major change in the ecosystem and is clearly intended to make the rich clubs even richer. That will have an impact on every club at every level to a greater or lesser extent. Its possible that there might be some positive impacts for the clubs that aren't in it. It seems to me though that there are other ways to change the ecosystem that would benefit everybody.

I think, ultimately, what we want is the same thing- a more level playing field.
I just see this as a step along the road that we're already travelling- towards a small group of clubs holding all the money.
Ironically, while it is better from a competition point of view, the fact that they're now saying it will be an open competition will probably make that worse as it will end up with only a few clubs realistically being able to get in to it and any club that wants to get in having to spend a load of money they haven't got to get there.

You only have to look at ours, Leeds and others attendances. Over 40k will be there Saturday to watch us batter Coventry.

40k the Saturday before Christmas and in a cost of living crisis.

Clubs would be fine and if anything flourish. If we were in a revamped 1st Division (going back to their proper names) and challenging for the title, how many seats would be empty in the ground?
