They don't have much to challenge. PL rules state clubs can't play in other competitions other than the ones the PL permits them to. If the PL says no, they can boot them out and no legal challenge will stand up. Banning players from international duty will be more of a legal battle but that's between FIFA/UEFA and the players' representatives. The PL are well within their rights to tell the big six to **** off.
So you think a team finishing 3rd or 4th after a 38 game season shouldn't be in the Champions League but a team winning the Cup after playing 6 games should? That is a strange logic. How about just the Champions in a knockout competition? You could call it the European Cup. Then have a competition for the teams that have won their primary Cup competition. You could call it the Cup Winners Cup. To main interest until the end of the season have a competition for the next teams in the League. To maintain interest in the secondary Cup competition, the League Cup you could award one of the place to the winners of that competition. Those teams could enter this Cup, You could call it the UEFA Cup. Surprised no one has ever thought of it.
Well, ideally, yeah. My scenario was just a merger of the Cup Winners Cup and European Cup. Regardless, cup winners and title winners in the same tournament makes more sense than top 4 in the same tournament, in my opinion. It stop clubs ****ing off domestic cup runs to focus on finishing top 4.
Not as easy as that CM... I'm a sports fan. I watch everything from IPL. to golf to Motor Racing, to horse racing etc..etc...
Like when boxing added world bodies... There was one world champion when I was a kid, at each weight..... Now:- WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO...
I think that's a little different. There's always the possibility for the those belts to be unified. Super League is a closed league.
It will be a meaningless watch, nowt without the underdog. World Series next, with teams only selected from Scunthorpe. They will do stuff like put big tall gaol posts in, players will wear padding and helmets and the goalie will chuck the ball forward. Or even worse, make all of the players stand still whilst the ball is chucked at them and they try to stop a goal with a lump of wood whilst sitting on a horse.
I just don’t see enough teams complying with this idea for it to work and that’s without huge protests and potential player strikes . This won’t happen..and cannot be allowed too.
Brilliant.... Gary Nevilles just said cancel the weekends league cup final neither team cares about football
Baddiel talks a bit of sense. The last sentence is very true. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...as-we-know-it-its-almost-as-if-they-dont-care
Klopp has said that neither he, nor the players, have been consulted about the ESL and he thinks it’s a terrible idea.
Can't see this happening but would love it if it did. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-city-madrid-champions-league-23942839
I'm sure none of the managers or players have been consulted. Might not stop a few tasty challenges going in early doors though.
