I sincerely hope there is no one in a critical condition, Stainesy. If there is, it's sod's law that it will be one of the majority of England fans that are there simply to enjoy the football. What I would say about those fans that drink all day and try to antagonise locals and opposition is, if you poke a hornet's nest often enough, chances are someone will get badly stung. These incidents rarely happen to the fans of the other home nations. English football and its travelling support abroad needs to take a long hard look at itself
I thought it had all improved so much in recent years. What has caused this return to such terrible scenes in Marseille I wonder? Plus, I could have predicted trouble with England fans in Marseille, so why were England scheduled to play there?
To be honest I'd be much more frightened of a bunch of Eastern European ultras bent on trouble than a load of pissed up English fans, no matter how horrible they are. That thought had crossed my mind too Col. Perhaps the organisers thought this type of thing had died out as well. Looks like a big failure of pan European (and not just EU!) policing, we are usually very good at preventing the hardcore thugs from travelling. Scuffed goal but they all count! Bravo Wales.
It had improved, Col. There needs to be an inquest, but is it enough to say England will only play in towns with thick skinned people?
I also wonder if the EU referendum has given rise to some misguided nationalism, with the knuckle draggers deciding to "give it out" in France?
The referendum has certainly inflamed passions in those that favour leaving. It had occurred to me too that this might be a factor in the trouble, Col, but I didn't like to say.
I don't mind admitting that there must be plenty of idiots who have been encouraged by the campaign to leave the EU mate. They don't represent me or my opinions.
Well done Wales. I didn't think Slovakia were as good as I'd been led to believe, but Wales deserved to win that.
