They don't play in non league, they're in the Welsh Premier League and they're not just a works team anymore. It doesn't make a mockery of it, it gives inspiration for some of the smaller nations that they can compete with the bigger clubs. If anything, our ability to qualify as cup runners up is more of a joke than some team from Wales entering. Incidentally, next season is the first time a team from Gibraltar will be entering, of course it'll be at the first qualifying round. Brabs did indeed play for TNS, as did our erstwhile Cayman Islands Striker Jamie Wood.
100% agree. It is ridiculous that the FA / PL have offered the FA Cup Runners-up a Europa League spot and completely makes a mockery of the competition. Im surprised UEFA didnt overrule them (if they can do that?). We could very nearly have had a mid-table 3rd tier team competing in it, who have won nothing, rather than the team who finish in the top half of the entire country. It is really stupid but - hey - who gives two ****s, for once a daft rule has gone in our favour!
I believe for the last time it can happen as well which makes it all the sweeter! UEFA don't like it and have made the FA get rid of the runner up thing. It's certainly a daft rule but I'm bloody glad of it if it has us competing in Europe!
It is indeed (6-7 quid a pint) . Best to drink aquavit...if you can stand the taste or have a strong stomach...better bang for the buck.
It has come to an end. Either this year or next will end the FAC runners-up getting into europe. In furture it will go on PL final places. (ie.5th-6th-7th). So be glad that HULL CITY are taking possible advantage of it. Plus the winners of the europa league Now get a place in the champions league. So taking it seriously next season and you never know. btw... Sevilla who won it last night 4-2 on pens (by beating Benfica) actually entered the competition at the 3rd qualifying stage.
The draw for the 3rd Qual. round is July 18th which is actually 6 days before the 2nd round - 2nd legs are played. So as a seeded team, Hull City will know which of 2 teams they will face upon entry. Whatever happened to wating for the winners to be known.? It will be a messy draw for sure.
Europe made much more sense when it was Cup Winners, European Cup (for champions) and Uefa Cup (for other high placed teams). But, as with other aspects in the sport, other agendas have taken over. It's all about the brand and making people think everything has improved even if it hasn't fundamentally, just so they pay more (I opted out). Same with the renaming of divisions in England.
At least we shall know which of 2 teams we shall be going to and will give us an extra week to look at travel etc etc.
All i want to know is, is there a chance of drawing a Portugese team in our first game? I've just realised if we dont i wont see the home leg whoever we get and we could be out without me seeing our entry into Europe. Bag of ****

****ing buzzing we're playing in europe and will be doing my upmost to go.. Bruges away please first game!
I think Portugals coefficient is too high for us to draw one in Q3, they would also be seeded I think. The unseeded Q3 teams are mostly a bag of **** but there is the odd banana skin in there, like Molde this year who without being world beaters are still a tidy outfit who could probably do well in the championship. But small chance of us losing in qualifying, it would have to be a catastrophic **** up not to beat any of the unseeded teams.
If you bring up Wikipedia and enter Europa League 2014/15 it gives you all the teams and stages they enter the competition. The first and second qualifying rounds are drawn on June 23rd btw.!!!!!
www.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014–15_Uefa_Europa_League All explained here with which teams enter at which point.
Just spotted on Twitter, City fan Scott Wood has just taken delivery of his Europa League flag... please log in to view this image #CityOnTour
