in europa league again OP (I did actually look it up): QF: Prague 2-1 L1 4-2 L2 (6-3) R16: Leverkusen 2-0 L1. 0-0 L2 (2-0) R32: Napoli 1-0 L1, 1-1 L2 (2-1) Group Pizen 3-3 Rapid Wein 1-0 Minsk 2-1 Minsk 4-0 Pizen 1-0 Rapid wein 1-2 We had a **** group too... we really did poorly under rodgers and just did enough but this lot hammered two low sides and their most impressive round is R16 with was leverkusen who we know are CL team and they beat them 2-0 then controlled second leg. they did the same to napoli As i said above and i'm sticking to it. La liga form shows they are well organised, and they look like if they get a lead they will control the game. They look like they won't score many but will not concede either as i said.. sturrdige chance - goal is what i'm hoping for. we cannot afford a lallana gets 4 chances and never hits target game. We cannot afford to lose the away leg either.
I'd be happy enough with that. I would be slightly surprised by firmino but i feel he does give it away a lot. Coutinho also has proven he's not a super sub. Over all my view is our weakness in last two rounds has been CMS pressing up and bascially getting passed through so I just think there is a case for being solid here. the press must come where its intelligent to do so. Wide areas and when CMs have back to goal (by our cms) and their CBs if in bad areas (by our forwards)
Was watching Villarael away at Leverkusen as i wanted to see how Hernandez (had him to score) got on. Either Leverkusen are **** at attacking or this Villarael team has got a pretty mean defence as i was watching that match hoping for leverkusen to break them down but they created jackshit. Villarael pretty much played on the counter. Think of them as a Atletico lite.
I think that sounds exactly as their record suggests. I think they are atletico lite as you have said. I am sort of HOPING maybe a bit of english steel (milner corssing to sturrdige and benteke) if all comes apart can help us. I dunno though... I think its a whole other challenge and what worries me is LFC still look very niaive in that we creep more and more forward and see CBS in opposition half when sides sit off and i could see us done on the break.
Other than a loss, worse result is a 0-0... Away goal is key, I'd take a repeat of the result away to Dortmund..
'Kin 'ell, I can't even pass an honest opinion now ffs They aren't all that. They don't score many goals and they're far from impregnable at the back.. Sparta Prague put 3 past them over the 2 legs in the last round, and since that tie they've been beaten twice and drawn the other, scoring 1 goal in 3 games.
Come on boys, there's 97 reasons why I want you to go all the way and for the good of LFC and English football as a whole !
Christian Benteke has travelled with Liverpool for Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg at Villarreal. The striker has not played since a knee injury sustained with Belgium in March. His return boosts Liverpool's striking options with Divock Origi out injured. "It is the best news Christian is back," said Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. "We only have players ready to play a part tomorrow. There are no tourists. We are ready for the moment." Origi picked up a serious ankle injury in the 4-0 win over Everton last Wednesday, while defender Mamadou Sakho is not expected to play again this season. He and Liverpool have agreed he will not play while a Uefa investigation into a failed drugs test is completed. Villarreal, meanwhile, are seeking to reach their first ever European final at the fourth attempt. El Submarino Amarillo (the Yellow Submarine) were beaten semi-finalists in this competition in 2004 and 2011, and lost to Arsenal in the Champions League semi-finals in 2006. The Spanish side drew 0-0 at home to Real Sociedad on Sunday and are fourth in La Liga, four points clear of fifth place with three matches left to play. "We must be prepared for our best game. This is the highest level of football that Villarreal show each week. Unbelievably strong," Klopp added. "We only speak about the semi-final. No-one thinks we are halfway - we are here because we respect each tournament and respect each round."
