I agree even if not explicit bringing on Benteke with a couple of minutes to go seemed to indicate to the players we were going for the winner.

Klopps post match cmoments seemed indicate he maybe wanted the team to sit back and punt the to Benteke. Well he needs to be really clear with these bunch of dumb ****s...big signs pitch side or something...

I don't really buy this sub on thig. I think any pro should realise a sub after the injury time board goes up is a sub to waste time.

we put benteke on for firmino as the only sub that would not disrupt any defensive duties... for me it was a clear time waste sub.

If it was on 80mins ok i'll buy it...

I just think they ****ed it personally.

if you look at it how tracked their scorer? who closed the long ball down.. where was the defensive line?

    upload_2016-4-29_13-28-20.png

here is the build up to the goal.

Look at our midfield... look at the eventual goal scorer. in CM....

LOVERN is the guy covering the man with ball.. this is CM job

    upload_2016-4-29_13-30-19.png

now look... eventual goal scorer has run off his man... who is now not tracking him but looking at the ball.. he's already lost him.

Our CMS are jogging back still

now ball is played... lallana tried to chase back but didn't even make box.

the guy in middle ran towards toure then lost adrian and never got back.

Lovern had to go to the guy who played the ball so cannot mak e 2 of himself.

    For the record:

    1. Moreno was the guy in the middle with adrian... WHY.

    2. Where was allen, lucas and milner? they are IMO the gobshites here

    again from the other angle

    upload_2016-4-29_13-35-38.png

    MASSIVE gap between CBS.

    Full backs high

CMS in a spot you could throw a hat over.

    upload_2016-4-29_13-37-12.png
here the ball has broken. lovern has stand.

look at the reaction form the CMS.. Moreno is the guy starting to sprint.. in centre circle... the 3 guys are basciall still stood where they were... so lovern and moerno have reacted but they have not

    upload_2016-4-29_13-39-5.png

hmmmm.. moreno sort of tracks run.. CMS still in opposition half. clyne is trotting back

watch it all unfold guys.... total ****e.

Spot on MITO. It was a clusterfuck of a goal to concede from a number of individuals.

Milner and lucas should never play CM again.

I think going into this game both teams was trying to suss each other out. We learned enough about the team and how they set up and all they really know is defensively how we set up. Offensively they dont have a clue as we wont play that we did.

The second leg will be different as we have to attack and Villareal have to defend, we do struggle against stubborn defensively teams but as this is a must win i think the team will have a different mentality.

Yes, I think we started off being quite careful and pressing high up with just coutinho firmino and lallana but quickly it became apparent that milner that the chosen guy to pop up out of CM and made the body to close down on thier CMS... but he was so far up they were simply waiting for him and passing in to the gaps he left.

I think we saw their A game. But we should have scored after 5 mins and really put them under pressure. allen fluffed it. they had 2 on coutinho every time he moved.

I think they surrendered the wide areas and made 4 tight banks of 4 and let us waste the ball.

I also think they've no real pace. Suarez hasn't quite and the other two have none.

I don't think the second leg will be any different as they were happy to defend and all. I do think they will not risk anyhting and so Ithink we've got to go hard or go home right out of the gates.

    Klopp.

He said afterwards: “There is no explanation for this. They played one chip ball on the back of Kolo and Alberto [Moreno] is not there – I don’t know where he was – so that was really fortuitous and that makes really no sense but that was the only big mistake we made in the game.”

You're right Mito..it was more than one player too high up with minutes to go.

That's been a midfield problem for 2 years..all in opposition half lose the press then shuffle back at a jog. Could be any three of our current midfielders..they all are guilty of it far too often! Tie that with absent FB's and it's always too much for our cb's.

yes.. ok lovern could have played skertl and dropped off and maybe the guy would have kept running and running and we'd have funnelled back. theres lost of things that might have happened

In the end lucas should have been in his slot for one. Moreno was called out by klopp as well. he was in cm. Clyne was high up on other side.

Lallana in fairness again was RW but was in LB slot chasing back.. he was closest midfielder.

It shows how we were all over the place.

whats not been mentioned in only a couple minutes before mingolet pulled off a great save when they were clean through in the same channel.

why did nobody learn lesson from that and pull things together.

Most of these players have been making the same mistakes for years, do we really expect something to suddenly click in the 88th min of an European tie and for them to think oh no I've been doing this wrong all these years?

We know most of these players aren't at the level we are aspiring to get to, unfortunately. The midfield isn't really suited to these type of away ties where a little bit of control is required, we don't have an Alonso that can put his foot on the ball and slow the game down when the opponent starts getting a bit of momentum. What doesn't help us either is players like Milner & Moreno who are pretty naive defensively and charge forward at any opportunity ignoring their defensive duties.
