How’s everyone getting on??

I thought on the 10th anniversary of our Europa league final I would share my story of the final....

At the time due to a job change I had given up my season ticket as I then worked most Saturdays. Luckily the Europa fell on Thursday nights and I had a lot of Thursday, Fridays off so I got to all home games plus Sofia,Roma, Basel, Wolfsburg and Hamburg away....

Despite going to most games the clubs decision to give season tickets holders 4 tickets each meant the final was out for me. Two days before the final I found a Liverpool fan online who had two tickets in the neutral end and I drove from London to Swansea to pick them up and paid £150 per ticket real price £40 ( I think)...

Despite losing I’m so glad I was there and was on the same plane home as Moritz Volz!!

I had a season ticket but didn't get one on the first sale, (a right cock-up, which made the club bring in the points system) I had to wait for returns, I still hadn't got one after the Stoke home game, so was on a promise from a friend that he knew someone, but luckily the club got me one. I got one of the day charter planes out to Hamburg. My friends took the coach, we never did meet up.
Despite the result and outward plane delays had a great time in St.Pauli before the game. A memory not too many Fulham fans will ever forget. The problems started after the game for me. Walking back to the coach park people were walking back and saying some coaches had been moved and were round the other side of the stadium, I wasn't in good health at the time and couldn't do long walks. Luckily my coach was still there. It took us on a slow journey back to Hamburg airport.

The Airport was packed and it was mayhem, I sat down not feeling well and will be forever grateful to an attendant for taking me to a room (think it was the detention center), two hours later someone came with a buggy to pick me up and took me to the plane (don't think it was the one I was booked on) and luckily it was going to Gatwick :emoticon-0142-happy Think we got into Gatwick about 5am.
Back when we were 91st in the League who would have thought Fulham in a European Final <cheers> .

It was a fantastic experience even though we lost. We'd booked a room in Hamburg which I'm not sure was really worth it as we only spent 3 hours in the bed. We couldn't get a flight to Hamburg so had to take the train to Berlin. When we left early from the station the following morning the place was full of Athletico fans asleep on the floor, they must have had one hell of a night.

There was a really good friendly atmosphere. I met so many Hamburg fans who said they were supporting us though they probably said the same to Athletico fans. I remember the walk to the ground was well organised with bars enroute in a forest, lots of fun there. We nearly did it, no matter what though it was a fantastic experience.
