Spain are soft at the back and knackered. We sit back like we did today, they’ll have the game won before we can regroup. We will soon see <ok>

    Tough that mate.
Still, if we had "pressed from the front" and run around like dogs chasing balloons we may have tiered ourselves out enough to concede one.
    Southgate is no Klopp :(

You bet on england conceding a goal?

With no risk southgate in charge and playing a country who ought not to even get out of a group in a proper tournament (worst 3rd place finisher)

Another sf against a half decent opponent, haven't even played one side that's up to it yet. Its ace.

To be fair, Walker did try to gift them one a few times. It’s crazy that we are in this position…mad….but it’s about to get interesting. At 1-0 yesterday against a poor team, We played defensively…it was very poor. The set piece goal straight after the break changed the game totally.

Denmark are decent. Not great…decent….I’m hopeful that even Southgate's negativity will be enough though….and if we do, then it’s a one off game against the Spanish or Italians….probably the classy Italians….not one of our goals last night would have happened vs the Italians. I struggle to see how we would beat them. I see a better chance vs the weaker Spanish who have a softer defence.

Denmark were no great shakes in the groups but the knock out seems to suit them more.

If you were writing a script to an england win you couldnt have made the group much easier and last 16 v a spent german force (cracked on 75mins) and qf were no marks.

Having denmark in the sf should be one of the easier games.but they are still top 10. They lack goal threat imo.

England to win 1-0 or go into extra time.

At this point in the tournament southgate needs to realise that going to extra time with the final only a few days later is a very very bad idea.

The home crowd advantage now.is massive.

Gone are the booers. The wave of patriotism will sweep and thought of.getting on england backs away.

This is englands best chance since 1966 100%. Its a lot easier than 1996.

Italy in the final imo. Spain have a mountain to climb.

Tbf to Denmark, they had the Erikson Incident in the first game, bossed Belgium for a while then thrashed Russia. England should overall have enough if we play like we should, but it won't be easy and we can't be complacent. That said, our mentality has looked good so far and losing to them last year should help focus minds.

And don't rule out mis amigos!

Yeah but russia are total ****, worse than ukraine.

The issue for england is no risk southgate only works if someone doesn't produce a moment and score first.

Weve had Croatia with no forward, scotland dominate us but has a slow lump who was **** up top, bang average Czechs and then Germany.

What we saw v germany is the no risk Philosophy writ large. Muller was absolutely god awful and killed germany off up front. Werner got in once but as usual he only half hit it. Ukraine were a joke to be in that level of the competition.

The result is 0 goals conceded and the formerly 2 goals in 3 games replaced by 5 in two and growing confidence.

Ukraine no 4 moved off kane ball watching sterling. Rank defending.

Maguire free header (nice cross again from shaw)

Then they give up. Lovely stuff

I get the impression england need to show they can win on pens at some point of show they can change gear and chase the game. This talk of composure is funny as there was little on show when scotland over ran our midfield.

If we concede will be end up like Belgium did (hacking it forward at lukaku) or will we do what spain did and play the game to our strengths?

First goal could be decisive v denmark. If england get it no risk strategy then takes charge and we grind it out and try to break with 2 and 3 players.

For the spanish, it's this simple 2 extra times in a row means they have a huge mountain to climb irrespective of their opponents.

The italians have not exactly been irresistible up front, it more about massive energy and pressing right up.

Spain would suit us far.more than italy.

But in the semi final we need to see that denmark are not ukraine and are not going to give up no matter what. The home advantage is huge but we need to continue to score first and defending

Whilst being surprised by the number of goals we scored (well done to Hendo, by the way :emoticon-0152-heart) I thought we played bloody well. Ukraine were pretty poor, but had their chances. Denmark will be no pushover, however. That said, against Czech Republic, their performance was fairly low key, probably because of the heat, but it's about what's in front of you on the day. I think we can beat them.

I'm still finding it difficult to get even mildly excited about the tournament.

The game last night was an OK watch. The Ukraine are poor and looked every inch if it. The joy of letting 3rd place teams into the knock outs I suppose.

I've avoided any media since Germany and it helps if I don't have to watch the gushing and starry eyed sentiments about our " hero's "

England look solidish at the back and reasonable going forward. Although Denmark are not fantastic, they are still the toughest test so far, there is a decent chance of another disappointment.

Who could have imagined Scotland would be England's most difficult game en route to the SFs?!

Italy have been my pick to win it from the off and that hasn't changed, think they'll beat Spain pretty comfortably. Denmark will be a tricky game because they're playing to win it for Eriksen as much as anything else now, so they've got that extra impetus driving them and they are a good side, this is the harder game to call imo.

We're Scotland's cup final; it was always going to be difficult.

    Germany was ours.

    Denmark will be motivated.
