I'm sure you don't actually believe we see the same extent in the Prem. And if players do it, they annoy me too.
Not saying it is right, and it annoys the hell out of me, but tomorrow if we are 2-1 up with 10 mins to go, I'll take any English player getting shot from the stands or feigning an injury. As they say, when in Rome......
Probably a reason why their defenders play into their 70's. At 30 you are still relatively, a mere callow and naïve novice. I know what you mean, its part of _their_ game and they do it well, but they should keep it their cosa nostra.
I find the best way to deal with feeling compromised emotionally, is to hide the emotions behind a stiff upper lip. This may not be entirely healthy. Anyway, if it is England vs Italy, it's okay imo to want both teams to win; they won't though, obviously. But you can shed a tear for both. Tears of joy and sorrow at the same time. Strange business, being human.
I would definitely be backing England, but when it comes home, it won't feel 100% going mental whilst the Italians cry on the pitch. Actually I just imagined it. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I may lose a cousin or two though
The Italians treat everything as an art Attacking, defending, fouling, being fouled and skullduggery. And they worked bloody hard at it all yesterday England treat it like skilled manual labour, but we also do it very well at times and we are much better when we allow the occasional artisan into the team eg Grealish
Other occasional artisans like Gasgoigne or Le Tissier never behaved that way. I think in England we tended to get on with the game and we dip our toe in it from time to time. Interesting this competition the refs have just played on loads more, i wonder which ref has done that best. Be good if we get to the final to have the ref that allows the game to flow and doesn’t act on that stuff. Maybe @tomw24 knows who that is...
Funny that ….. unlike the Sweden one, I felt it was a clear red. He lost the ball and dived in to get it back, with his studs up. Glad that both Lineker and Shearer agreed with me on both counts
Second only to “Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau” (Land of My Fathers for those who might not know) for me! It always makes my spine tingle (and makes my friend’s dachshund howl her head off ) I always think that only Italy could have a national anthem which sounds like it should be from an opera!
Well indeed! I didn't think that should be a red either. Just incredibly unfortunate for both the player that got injured and the player that got sent off.
That should definitely be one where there’s some sanction after the game, in my opinion. If the authorities cracked right down on it, they’d put a stop to it. You could even argue (I won’t because I was glad Italy won) that the goal could have been disallowed as the player lying “dead” in the middle of the area was putting the defenders off …..
Well, there’s no issue about it now, is there? England will smash Ukraine tonight 4-0, then they meet either Denmark (come on big Jannik!) or Czech Republic in the semi-final (at home - so even easier). They’ll win that 2-0 or so (still won’t have let in any goals) and play Italy in the final. Sadly, Italy won’t have the amazing Spinnazzola to run whoever Gareth picks at full back into the ground (that’s going to be a BIG loss for Italy), so, despite them running that donkey Maguire round in circles, I see England winning by a solitary Raheem Stirling goal (so, despite him being atrociously racially abused by some sections of the England “fans” he’ll immediately become their hero - until he ****s up again. Then he’ll be that “obnoxious ****** who should go back to wherever he came from” ……) So (sorry, Chilco), our dear Prime Minister can take credit for it, get Gareth and Harry knighted and the masses can go back to sleep until the start of the season ……. And I’ll have to go and commiserate with my fanatically Italian-supporting daughter, whose birthday it is today (I told her I’d phoned Chiellini yesterday morning and told him he’d better win for her birthday present )
