Never had much time for the lad playing for Ireland under Trap but watching him today Jaysus missed big time in Brazil this summer.

His debut for his country was TEN years ago under Brian Kerr. I can't believe it was that long ago. An end of season ****ey tournament at the Valley with Ireland, Nigeria and Jamaica.

He's got seventy caps for his country now. He got a lot of stick under Trap but his style was always going to suffer under that formation.

He was like a headless chicken playing for Ireland,would take on men and then do it again and no cross,exasperating to watch but maybe playing for Everton he's changed ie play to system and fight for his place.I for one was amazed they signed him for as above but looks like it's working and delighted for the lad.:emoticon-0148-yes:
 
He suffered from the rigidity of trap's 4-4-2. It gave him nowhere to go other than to beat the man 3 times as the full backs would never get beyond him.

He was good in Russia too, we are just seeing him more now.

One swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, but the signs are good.
