I think we could win this, we need to take Roy at his word and attack and not put out a team that is more worried about how the opposition play. This is a young squad and should be full of ambition, they just need to be let loose.

Pretty much the team I was thinking of although I wouldn't play Lallana since moving to Liverpool he's not really looked good enough. Would consider Sturridge there to add some pace. It would be he perfect role for Walcott

On Vardy I say leave him on the bench. If were playing one up front it has to be our best and that's Kane. Vardy only works in a single style of play and I doubt we're going to play like that.

I agree Lallana hasn't had a great season, but he always plays well for England and he is a very creative and technical player which would suit us well, we haven't brought an awful lot of pacey player to the tournament this year. We would lose defensive shape against the bigger teams with Sturridge. It would be a perfect role for Ox had he been fit.

I agree on Vardy, but I don't like Sterling so I was trying to edge him out of the team.

England v Wales 2:00PM Kick-Off on a Thursday ! <grr>
The rewards of being your own boss! I'm going to cram in jobs and do late days in the first half of the week, then take Thursday afternoon off!

Although for some reason the score 1-1 is stuck in my head for that one, which would be a bit disappointing. I really don't get the feeling we will beat them.

There's this wonderful new thing that employers offer employees these days, it's called 'Holiday Entitlement', Google it!!

I myself have taken advantage of this step forward in Workers' Rights to take the day off to watch said match!!

Hope this helps! <ok>

I remember a similar mid-afternoon kick off on a work day for England's first game in the France World Cup 1998. We were playing Tunisia. I was working in London and our boss basically said tools down and off to the pub at about 2pm. We squeezed into our local boozer in time to see the beginning of the BBC's show, with the camera zooming in on Des Lynam. He looks up from his papers and says to the camera, "shouldn't you be at work?".... Cue massive cheers from a packed pub!

I recall similar in the 2002 World Cup in Japan/South Korea. Working in Virgin Wines call centre at the time, the old Jarrold's Mill on Whitefriars, opposite the back of the magistrates court. England vs Argentina, afternoon kick off <grr>
But the management and supervisors knew the entire country would be watching and so 'volunteered' to man the phones for the duration of the match. So most of us buggered off down to Green's leisure centre on Barrack St, who had a big pull-down screen...and cold beer <cheers>
Beckham won it with a penalty kick.<ok>

I did this for my staff in the 90's can't remember which year now but the agreement was, as the kickoffs were early mornings we would get breakfasts in, Bacon tools mainly, and have a telly in the meeting room. Work hours would be made up over the coming weeks.
We got reported for not having a TV licence!! So had to abandon it!

Only one problem there Welly, nearly all of our staff handed in a holiday slip so it was vetoed as the boss, for obvious reasons, didn't want to be accused of favouritism :frown:

I was in Sydney by then. That game was a perfect sunny late afternoon kick off here. My sister text messaged me after Beckham's goal to let me know i'd become an uncle too.

Although I will say I fully expect Roy to try to fit Rooney into the team in some way and that will destroy our chances. The England friendlies that we played before the most recent set, back when Rooney was injured, were some of the best England games that I have seen for a while - because the young players were trusted to go out and play and the attacks were not slowed down or laboured over by Rooney.

I agree I think RH not wanting to dent Rooney's ego, may well cost us dearly.

I finish work at 1.45PM and home before 2pm so not a problem for me, but I booked next week off work not realising that's when the tournament is on, so a bit of luck.
