Well done Wales and I guess the semis were 'Just a Bridge Too Far!!!!'.
At least you can go home with your heads held high in the knowledge that you gave it your best shot!! <ok>

Agreed <ok> 'Plucky' little Wales did their homeland proud. As did 'plucky' little Iceland.
Shame about tired, stagnant, gutless 'little' England! :(

That's all very nice and all, but two poor teams, one of whom are now in the final, delivering a dire spectacle. No idea how, or why, I sat through that.

As the French would say, and probably did around Lyon, "Quelle merde!"

Sums up the tournament for me.

I have to say that these tournaments do nothing for me. As I have said previously, I have given up on England and expected no more than they achieved, at least Wales did themselves proud.

    A pen for THAT?!

Norwich and England never would have got that decision.

Just read the BBC's write up on the FA getting to grips with changes required for the future of the England team... It included this quote:

    Phew. Well that's sorted then.

There's a saying that the sign of a good referee is that you don't really notice him, he lets the game flow, makes the right decisions, no controversy about them etc, and his performance isn't discussed after the match because of this...

So yeah, I doubt that you're the only one.

Did anyone here the fantastic line of punditry last night when discussing Griezemann's second? "He realised he didn't have time to think about it". <doh><laugh>

Anyone watch this? I've only just seen it.

I really like every single thing Ryan Giggs says.

After seeing this, I agree. Maybe Southgate, but with someone brought in to help him. Like a Sir Alex, or Hoddle. The main thing, that is a massive shame. If the FA really wanted to progress the U21 manager for the future, or believe in Southgate. He should have been there at Euro 16. He should have been in the camp, on the bench, experiencing and seeing what happens on and off the pitch at a major tournament. Seeing Roy work, how he operates. See what he does well, and mainly, learn from all the mistakes he made.

They do try and include the English as much as possible Bure and increasingly this is the only option left

Well, that is the most undeserved win I've seen.

Edit - I agree with Bure that Clattenburg is not a particularly good referee and he certainly doesn't do us many favours!!!

I'm not sure "undeserved" is the right analogy.

Although the highlight of the evening was the moth display, the Portugal tactics were spot on and they nullified a rather lacklustre France with a superb defensive display (Pepe and Fonte were immense). France missed a few good chances but the Portuguese deserve credit for their organisation, resilience and team effort.

Not forgetting they lost the Messiah after just 26 minutes and it was meant to all be about him...and ten other blokes! <laugh>
Credit to them for taking all the sting out of the French attacks - though Sissoko was a man on a mission last night <yikes>
    Sign him up, Alex!!

Fair comment OCF and I meant that Portugal were quite lucky to get past the first stage. Their tactics were superb, thigh though they had their keeper to thank on several occasions.

There have been some endearing moments during these Euros, but this young Portuguese fan consoling a distraught French fan after the final whistle takes the biscuit for me <applause> <ok> :emoticon-0106-cryin

I saw a grand total of about 4 hours (at the very most) of Euro 2016. That was enough, I just could not get motivated to watch any more, so poor was it. Did not help that England v Iceland was one of the games I watched, even then I gave up after 55 minutes.

I watched a great deal of it, and agree the quality was really poor. Portugal only won 1 game within 90 minutes, which is crazy.

Whilst having the additional teams created some great stories and upsets, I think the format made defensive football more attractive than it needs to be. 3 draws got you out of the groups, and so many teams set up to nullify the opposition and hope to score on the break. There were so few matches in the whole tournament where both teams went out to win within 90 minutes, and extra time was largely pointless.

I liked the extra teams, but I'd hope they tweak the format for the next tournament. Even things as simple as making a win more valuable than 3 draws in the groups would have helped. Or introduce a play-off round for the third place teams to make third in the group more unattractive. Ditching extra time wouldn't go amiss either.
