This formation ain't working for England, at the moment. No width, and not getting through the middle. It's not as if the Slovaks are being particularly defensive either...
It's a team full of players who've played very little football of late. Very poor again from Hodgson. Make a couple of changes. Fine. Win the game and then sub people off, don't chuck away whatever cohesion you've got.
Good refereeing for Wales' second goal: Taylor was well offside, but as a Russian player's clearance put him through, it counted. Been a bit iffy since the goal, though: Ramsey's been spectacularly wasteful, Williams has mistimed a few challenges, Hennessey's been dropping balls left and right (literally) and they've been sitting back since about the 25th minute and allowed Russia back into the match.
As I think Woy probably knew. When it comes to the quality opponents, we are probably looking at : GK, CBs, Spur-backs. Dier. Lailana. Henderson. Alli. Kane, Vardy.
Wilshire and Sturridge dreadful. If Rooney had been making those passes that Dier is making, he would be lauded to the skies!
Not playing as well as they should be against this opposition. Dier superb again. Bertrand very lucky to still be on the pitch. Hoddle's comment made me laugh" he's caught with his forearm not his elbow. Well maybe a bit of elbow". Seemed like quite a lot of elbow to me.
I'd be tempted to give Rashford a go instead of Sturridge (who perhaps has found his place as an impact sub...) and bring on Rooney or Alli for Wilshere.
Roy is so laughably out of his depth it's frightening. When you look at how Coleman has successfully assembled a team that is arguably totally inferior on paper (with the exception of Bale), it beggars belief what the **** Hodgson has been pissing about doing for the past 4 years.
