As said elsewhere, the people creating the violence have no interest whatsoever in Football, so I think they will call UEFA's bluff on this. Any proper fan would have been thrilled to rescue a point in injury time, not many would be filled with anger at that point.
I've been listening to the radio a lot while traveling these past few days and formed the opinion that the England fans have largely been the victims. Sure if troublemakers can be identified then deal with them, as the authorities have, but it's notable that (I believe) no Russian "fans" have been jailed. Have any been arrested? It's almost like old prejudices of England fans of the past have been dragged up and associated with the 99+% of well behaved current England fans, I wonder if this has been done in part to cover up the significant deficiencies of the policing and organisation. In their defence (IMHO excuse) it is said that the French are stretched looking out for terrorist threats too. To me that doesn't make sense because all the terrorists would then need to do is disguise themselves as Russians and apparently do anything they wanted. The stuff they managed to get into the stadium could easily have been far more dangerous than it was, the main point is that they seem to have got it in there quite easily - so much for putting all their resources into stopping terrorists. I also understand they refused help and advice from the British police and now we seem to be under threat of expulsion from the tournament. I fear for what is going to happen later on this week.
ESPN says Iceland will defend in numbers. I doubt ESPN has ever seen Iceland play. Every time I've watched Iceland, they've had a go, and I expect they'll keep right on going.
With 9 of our 'starting 11' being a first choice for the countries at this tournament, I wonder if any other English club can pick a better match day squad from current and ex-players. I see our team as Lloris, Walker, Rose, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Dier, Modric, Alli, Dembele, Bale & Kane Subs Corluka, Davies, Wimmer, Sigurdsson, Keane, Gunter, Chriches and Gudjohnsson. Reserve keeper is an issue but I will nominate Charlie to take this on if required!
No way either of these two will leave the club unless it's as a double deal, which means if we do lose them to a predator, at the very least we'll have around £100m in the bank.
De Gea, O'Shea, Smalling, Pique, Evra, Pogba, Schweinsteiger, Rooney, Ronaldo, Martial, Rashford isn't too shabby
Apparently Austria were pretty porous at the back. Wimmer on the bench, that's why!! On the Russians, wasn't one of their football officials quoted as saying "This is just the fans who can even afford to get to France...wait until you meet the ones who can't afford to leave Russia!"
