Interesting selection from Del Bosque. While it is a very good squad, are the Spanish strikers as good as their English counterparts? I think not. Credit to Del Bosque for choosing to go with the ones who are in form such as Aduriz and Mikel, both from Athletic and Saul, the young midfielder from Atletico. Costa and Torres deservedly left out. The only disappointment being that the immensely talented Inaki Williams was injured in the latter stages of the season so lost out on a possible place in the squad. His time will surely come in due course.

This is about the squads Tom!! Using the general one will make things too cluttered IMO. This can be closed when all the participating countries have announced their squads and we have had our say. Gracias and tienes un buen dia, Tom!!

That is the question. He certainly seems to have lost that little bit of edge during the season with Manchester United. There is no doubting his qualities, but it is his fitness that is questionable at the moment. While some point to the fact that the large bulk of his England goals have come against "weak" opposition, the goals still have to be scored and of course he needs a service. Where to play him. IMO, Hodgson will pick one of Vardy/Kane and have Rooney just behind to feed through the balls, as England will need a bit of solidity to protect a suspect defence.
 
Obviously we concentrate on England, but mustn't forget we have several players in other squads. Will be keeping an eye out for Davis and Long amongst others. Shame about Holland...poor Virgil, Ron and Clasie.

Coming soon, a specific tennis thread as there are many tennis fans on this site, one for the Tour de France 2016 and of course Rio 2016 as I find the specific sites devoted to other sports have few visitors. Look at the cricket board and most comments are on a clubs football board. Once the new season starts up again, I promise not to create too many divergent threads but it is close season now so perhaps there is room for a bit of latitude during the summer.

How? The squads are part of Euro 2016 therefore should be in the same thread IMO.
 
We can just chuck it all into the "complete free-for-all" Summer Transfer Rumours thread :)

If you feel so strongly about it go ahead and merge or make a request to the mods. But as I say that particular thread is general whereas this is more specific and will run until all squads are announced, from Wales, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, to those of Croatia, Turkey, and Australia!!!
