Starting to think that I should have done that 0-0 and chanced (the now Ronaldo-less) Portugal winning on penalties... :emoticon-0101-sadsm

If it does go to penalties I can't see France winning. They need to do it in 90 mins or aet

    That's over 2/1 for a 1-0 win either way. Worth a dabble?

... and there are 3 people in this room rejoicing when Portugal scored FFS. Just because France have been talking as though they had already won it before they started.

Portugal lucky to get past the group stage with 3 points and without a win. Has that happened before?

Ronaldo will now be insufferable. Not on the field most of the game, he still gets a winners’ medal.

What a load of rubbish – sums up much of the tournament.

They should go back to how this competition started – as a straight knockout. Start with 32 teams and have a draw – 16 matches. Winners go through to the next round draw until you get to a final. 31 matches – have sudden death extra-time to incentivise teams to try and win.

Do shut-up with your rubbish, QMII, for goodness sake. You've been knocking Portugal all through the competition. Serves you bloody well right that they won it............<laugh>

A very brave effort by Portugal, after having the **** knocked out of them by various French players early on in the game. Didn't get the score right, but got the winner, so I feel good! Good on Ronaldo too, a great footballer, he and his country deserve this. <ok>

Final table updated now, well done to Karlos and thanks to everyone that entered.
From a personal viewpoint I thought the standard of football was average and it was the worse/dullest competition I have seen(2010 World Cup up there).remember the exciting/sexy football of Euro 08(Russian team especially),seems a distant memory now.The standard of International football is going downhill rapidly and you can nearly count the number of world class players on one hand.Paul Pogba worth 100m wtf?!!The art of technical/creative midfielders is dying and the likes of Iniesta/Modric will be few and far between.Leicester/Portugal have shown that if you have a well organised team with great team spirit you can win anything. The beautiful game has gone less beautiful.Bring on the EPL lol!

I got six points for France as runners-up, so not all gloom. Well done karlos on winning the competition.

Swanny, I refer you to my previous post. I have not been knocking Portugal all competition but if this is your idea of a football competition, you can keep it – the team that lifted the trophy only managed to win one game in 90 minutes play. The paint is not quite dry – I am watching.

Ronaldo will be banging in 50 goals in La Liga (one of the least competitive leagues outside Scotland) this year, diving more than Tom Daley and being paid more a week than it would cost to employ ten nurses for a year, so all will be right in the world in a couple of months.

The whole point of tournament football is that the best team is not guaranteed to win it out. It opens up a variety of outcomes and gives hope to sides who otherwise would not have the same capabilities in a league basis to maintain winning results to come first. Portugal weren't fancy but they played pretty good tournament football and made sure they were hard to beat and therefore gave themselves a chance of winning the game either in the 90, AET or PK's. I was glad to see them beat France to be fair.

Henrygate still is in the memory for us Irish fans <laugh>

Well played Karlos and QM. Thanks Ste for brightening up an otherwise turgid Euro 2016.

PS; I backed the winners in case you didn't know

If that was before I said "I hope you haven't backed them to win the final" I didn't mean it <laugh>.
