Not my beloved Plym, just a fellow Brit but I've rather come to expect defeat from a British tennis player.

Welcome back sensible, I hope you had good weather in northern Spain, looks like Paris has has it pretty crap like us. If you had temps anything like I had in London a week or so ago then you have done just fine. We had 27 degrees and humid - luverly! I've not had the chance to visit Santander but it's a place on my "to do" list <ok>

Sensible, you were missed, it's been so quiet I've been on the Wycombe forum <yikes>

Thank you Mrs lalala. Bit drastic going north to Wycombe though wasn't it?

Sunny all the time I was in Santander except for one night of rain but it cleared over the next day after a cloudy start. You would like Santander. It's not the Costas but it does have lovely beaches if that is your bag. Large City with shops gallore and a million cafes. Hotels are good standard, ours was a 4*. They don't speak much English though but you can just about get by. It is the money end of Spain and some of the houses around the beach area are stunning to say the least. The only down side was that whilst we sailed from Plymouth we had to come back via Portsmouth as they have changed the route around. You can do coming back to Plymouth from there but you have to time the stay right to do it. The Hotel we stayed in was the Santamar. Put it into your computer and have a look at it.

I swore as usual but only under my breath to be polite.

Pointing to what you want is a universal language and indicating the number by raising the requisite number of fingers also works. Hello is Hola and cheers is a thumbs up. That's all you need.

HAHAHA you don't speak any Spanish then. I think Ola (or Hola as you spell it) is about the only Spanish word I know, oh maybe one or two more words but other than that...yep the fingers sign works and the two fingers up isn't swearing to a Spaniard either!

Hotel looks good, definately one to do in the next year or two <ok>

I can't type spanish either it seems..........

I went with a coach company this time because they did half board and trips out and about as I wanted to see the mountains and surrounding area. If you want to go it alone then you can go onto the ferry website and it will give you prices for individual hotels which includes the ferry crossings. If you like walking then there are some lovely walks around the coast. Not the cheapest of places mind. This trip was for 10 days including the ferry crossings and cost around £580 each. Not the dearest but dearer than the Costas.

England will struggle to get out of the Group with what i have seen in the last 2 friendlies! Hope i am wrong. But some of the players he has taken are not up to it.

We may be surprised and get to the semis.

Just watched the first two matches and they were reasonable enough. Still couldn't get very excited about the tournament though. I doubt I will watch all of it and probably just a match or two here or there from here on in.

Normally I am Mr positive when it comes to England in tournaments but this time cannot see anything but abject failure. Wellbeck is one for the future but he is no Owen, who was on fire in the league, before he exploded into the England team. Just watched the highlights from the Belgium game, short show, and Roy has shown his hand... dont concede and try to grab a goal 4/5/1 at home, in a friendly, we can only hope he his is playing mind games. I like Chamberlains selection as I have said before I would prefer us to play all the youngsters and say to hell with this, as we already have a snowballs chance in hell of winnng this, but the media pressure will prevent that. Holland to win for me but there are a few others in the mix too. We only have two top flight players to start at the moment, Hart and Cole, and nothing special upfront or in midfield. That said my positive mindset for England in the past has not exactly reaped rewards so perhaps they will prove me wrong again..hopefully.

Absolutely appalling refereeing of the Poland - Greece game. If the Greek player deserved even one yellow card let alone a red than I'm a Dutchman.

This always happens - is it the authorities who use these major tournaments to lump yet more diktats on the referees or is it the strutting prima donna referees who can't resist showing off?

At least our man Howard Webb managed to avoid issuing a single card in the Russia - Czech Republic game. I have a feeling he'll be the only English involvement in the tournament we'll be able to feel proud of.

So Mr Gouda-Edam.....the Ref lived up to par and got it so wrong.......Especially with the first booking....the Greek defender legitmately climbed above the Polish player and did a great job....the second booking at worst was only a free kick....if that.

I agree Howard Webb (Webb I've heard that name somewhere else recently) did a very efficient job, allowing play to flow at times without the dreaded whistle culture reigning. The players got on with it and respected Webb's authority.

Personally Greece where heading for defeat...until the ref roused them from their lethargic attitude and very sloppy approach......a side that wanted to do well to brighten up the Greek Nations terrible economic outlook by winning the Euro 2012 tournament, like they did earlier this century from nowhere.

Well looks like my curse has worked again tip Holland and they lose to Denmark in first game, not over but will be hard for them now. If these teams where smart they should check if I am backing them and stay at home saving the airfare and hotel bills!!
So as it looks like the Mexijan voodoo is still strong I predict Exeter for champions next year and Argyle relegated.

You are a bit like me with the tipping mexijan. Reverse anything I say or gamble on and you are onto a sure fire winner usually.

Watched the two matches today and thought they were boring crap. Portugal got what they derserved in the end even if it meant a German win. They so obviously went for a nil nil scoreline. The Ref in that game was as bad as the other ones so far. Neither challenge in the Greek match was even a foul let alone a booking. The guy tonight was whistle happy from the start and got so much wrong it was just unbelievable. Webb did ok yesterday and so far has been by far and away the best Ref on show. I have a horrible feeling this is going to be a competition of who can be the worst Ref rather than a footballing spectacle. Still can't get excited so far though.

We did watch last nights Eastenders in between matches on playback. I'm not totally selfish honest. You would have to say that on paper the match tonight should have been a great spectacle for football lovers. Both sides are capable of putting on a display and have some cracking players. However, history should also tell us that this kind of match that much is expected of results in the biggest bore ever. I never learn though.

Sensible......I don't know which is worse.....watching Eastenders or Germany winning.......thats the equivalent of falling between a rock and a hard place.......I should be thankful that Mrs Plymborn has no interest in soaps......and we would watch something more interesting if the football levels reached saturation point and appeasement was necessary.

I now officially tip Germany so thats their tournament over!!!!
Personally I will watch any match going more often than not they are more enjoyavble than chewing your fingers to the bone with England or Argyle. I only support three teams Argyle, England and any one Exeter are playing the rest are just fun.

Moving on to my second big bugbear after egotistical and chronically short-sighted refs, there was some pretty awful diving and play-acting in the Germany Portugal game. Makes you wonder why we bother sometimes....

Let's hope Ashley Young doesn't embarrass us by taking to the air whilst the nearest defender is 3 feet away.
