Denmark vs Holland set to kick-off at 5PM on BBC One.

Our rock at the back, Daniel Agger, starts for Denmark at centre-back. Christian Eriksen, who has been linked with many of the top clubs in Europe, also starts. Worth looking out for.

For the Dutch, our ex-striker and fan favourite, Dirk Kuyt, is on the bench.

    Full-Time: Denmark 1-0 Holland.

Well, I don't think many people expected that. Holland dominated the game, created loads of chances but couldn't put them away. Reminds me of a certain team in red... <whistle>

Van Persie had a nightmare and it wasn't his day. Could see Huntelaar start the next game alongside him. Full credit to Denmark though. Yes, Holland missed a lot of chances but Denmark were good at the back. Agger had an excellent game in my opinion which is good for us. Good finish for the goal from Krohn-Dehli as well!

Certainly makes the group even more interesting!

Germans win it 1-0. Thought Portugal deserved a draw out of that!

Decent game though, really looking forward to Spain v Italy tomorrow

  10. Never thought I'd say this, but I wanted Ze Germans to win. Can't stand Ronaldo or Nani but that is not why, any team that sets up with three defensive midfielders and attempts to 'park the bus' in a high profile game and tournament when you have two enormous talents like the two already highlighted deserves to lose in my book <ok>

I know it's the first game and all that but if that's all that Germany can offer then they ain't going far in this competition!

  12. The teams that normally win these international tournaments are usually the ones that start slow and get better.

Look more carefully, I did say "if that's all Germany can offer". For a side who bossed their qualifying group scoring goals for fun they did seem to lack any real penetration or inventiveness.

I thought the Germans looked okay. First game and all that. They could and maybe should have scored more. It looked like Portugal were playing very deep and looking to attack on the counter with the pace and guile of Nani and Ronaldo (not a big fan of either - although they are good players). Germany, in response, didn't play as much down the wings for fear of being caught on the break, at least in the first half. In the second half it seemed at bit more open - Germany used the flanks more and Portugal had more breaks, and also looked to attack more in general. I think the result was fair, overall, considering that Pepe should have scored, Nani might have fluked one, and Muller and Podolski should have scored.

Great game between Holland and Denmark. Skill versus sheer grit and determination. Profligate finishing was also a major factor (us this season, anyone? I had severe deja vu in that game). Denmark were resolute and had a team of heroes, led by our Danny! Good work from the centre back pairing and the scorer (Krohn-Deli?), especially. I was quite suprised at how fast Rommedahl is at his age (he must be getting on a bit now) - he caused the dutch a few problems.

Looking forward to the spain game today. I think Iniesta will win or lose the competition for them and so will be key. I also think Torres will be abolutely vital with Villa not being there.

    Chris:

With the Russia-Czech game poised at 2-1 (70mins in?), I was seriously considering posting a 'burn Chris as a witch' thread! Either that or demand you predict the lottery numbers. <laugh>

    Goals!

In the Italy/Spain game, Italy took the lead through Di Natale! Just after he came on for Balotelli who missed a big chance seconds earlier.

However, just a few minutes later, Fabregas was played through by David Silva and finished the chance off well.

    1-1 & it's game on!

How many goals do you think Torres will score at this tournament?

0? an own goal? a hat trick of own goals?
