Thanks for proving my point, what a nob. If we don't win the first two games then it's game over Sturridge up front alone... WOW
Oh really?! Thanks, I didn't know that I'd swap out Rooney for Gerrard in the first instance and use Welbeck / push Young up front and bring Lennon on for Sturridge. Crouch would be next in line but I doubt he'd be needed unless one of the three gets injured.
If it wasn't pure bitterness I'd suspect it was lack of footballing knowledge from you binners maybe it's both?
It would'nt bother me if Holt made the squad in fact i think it would be a good thing but he has not made my starting line-up because i have gone for mainly a youthful team with older heads in the centre.
Exactly my thoughts Weighty, though our resident Norwich trolls have a mysterious blind spot here. My team was on the same idea as yours, though I tried to get an older head (or at least a more internationally experienced head) in every area.
"International experience" is, with respect, a load of old ****e You want to take inexperienced young players with no experience and seasoned older players who have FAILED CONSISTENTLY yet you won't take an older ON FORM striker because he has no international experience? You clearly don't want to score at the euros. But at least you see that ruddy deserves the call, he made saves today that you'll never see at Ipswich in a thousand lifetimes
Bitterness about what?? We have given the nation its two most successful managers, two captains and dozens of internationals. Wherher Holt goes matters to you, not us, we either want to win the tournament or build for the future, if Hodgson picks Holt then great, it's unlikely though, we shall see. None of us would pick him on merit, otherwise if we were biased then Ruddy wouldn't be making our squads
Our resident Norwich trolls have conveniently convinced themselves that if you’re playing a formation with a lone striker then that striker has to be big, strong, fat and ugly (I.E., Holt) and couldn’t possibly be anything else. They ignore the legion of examples you could give here and around Europe where one-striker formations (generally de rigour everywhere these days) where said striker is anything but the stereotypical big man.
Has sturridge scored against Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool (chelsea is off of course) You can't deny Holts big-game experience. He just dominated Arsenal with 60,000 people watching
So Chelsea and Bayern haven't got to the champions league final with 1 out and out striker? do you want a shovel?
This whole debate is just pathetic really. If we were in Ipswich's shoe's and Ipswich were in ours and had Holt up front, the whole conversation would be turned on its head. We would be saying Holt's not good enough and Ipswich fans would be saying he is.
