It's funny coz I certainly haven't and I don't think anyone else has said all Leave voters are racist. I mean if there are at least 17m racists in the country then we are in big, big trouble!!!!
(In fact we'd be pretty ****ed lol)But, if we accept the obvious fact that the majority of Leave voters aren't racists and are just normal people (really this shouldn't need to be said but it seems it does for some reason), the Leave Campaign - both the official one and the UKIP led one, both heavily centred on Immigration as a problem, this included Farage using Nazi-inspired imagery for his 'Anti-Immigration'/Take Back Control posters. While most rational people could see this as scaremongering and would make up their own minds, its pretty clear to see the link between this sort of rhetoric and the sort of people it may appeal to and the increase in racial attacks post-Brexit using phrases like 'Go back to your own country' or 'Go back home' ect. This small minority of morons seem to identify with the anti-immigration, heavily pro-nationalist rhetoric espoused by UKIP and the Daily Mail and Express in particular but the Leave campaign in a more general way and feel this makes it acceptable for them to air their racist views and actions in public.
This is often met with horror and disgust by the majority regardless of how they voted - which is the sensible reaction, because the majority of people are decent people and not moronic racists.
But it seems silly to dismiss the obvious link between this campaign and the increase in racist attacks.
