So we could have totally open borders, and everyone coming in?

There's a limit to how many people the country can manage at any given time. It's unknown how many can wander in from the EU, or what, if any skills they will bring with them. That's something imposed on us by the EU. It's what a fair amount of the debate on the EU has been about.

A consequence of that, is that one of the few controls we can have on immigration, is on the rest of the world outside the EU, hence we are forced into immigration caps.
Nope. The criteria for admission are supposed to be the natural cap on migration, as if you're only allowing in skilled workers who can prove they can support themselves or have job offers what's the issue? Why impose a cap that stopped the 2,700 nurses you keep going on about coming in? They were obviously needed and could have contributed to both our society and our economy but the cap stopped their entry. Blaming the Eatern Europeans for that home made issue, is both lazy and straight out of UKIP's dogma

Apologies @Hull City AFC (DMD) I wasn't here on page 494 as promised to reflect on how the thread has gone all pete tong again. Had I done that, we wouldn't have reams of pages discussing grammar and punctuation now :(

I didn't blame eastern Europeans, I blamed the flawed EU policy that was forced on us undemocratically, and that the EU undemocratically refused us permission to tackle.

As a neutral, I find the pathetic point scoring game hilarious.

Mind you, if some of them didn't have that, they'd have **** all to add.

You're blaming the number of EU immigrants for 2,700 nurses not been given entry into the UK, despite it being the UK's choice as to whether to admit them or not, and it's a simple fact that the cap was the cause of them being blocked, despite meeting the criteria for entry.
