The FTSE250 is taking the biggest hammering as the constituents of it are generally British companies that rely on domestic and EU trade.

The larger international companies in the 100 are also taking a beating but not as badly.

So the market's initial reaction to Brexit is that it's the British companies that are going to suffer.

Custard, In, Out, doesn't matter, I think Farage is a racist. He makes little attempt to hide it. I don't think Boris is a racist and it's telling that he distanced himself from Farage as the campaign gathered pace.

You have at least looked at all the issues. Needless to say, I think you arrived at the wrong conclusion, but it was a considered one.

Unfortunately, it's become clear that too many people have been concentrating, and been distracted by one single issue - immigration. If as much attention had been focused on the economic turmoil that will now ensue, I think the vote would have been different.

And, to add, that any sort of credible leader of The Labour Party would have swung far more voters to remain by pointing out some of the very real issues and consequences.

As mentioned before, it would have happened in thr short trrm either way, but there are contingencies in place.. We'll now find out if they're as good as some like to think.

There are no real contingencies against the markets. As several gvts throughout the world have discovered when they tried to fight them!

The turmoil has only just begun...

By the way did everyone notice how steady, calm and monotone he kept his speech? Like he was trying to influence stability even through his tone, not just his words? Good stuff, I was hoping Cameron would have gone along the same lines in terms of adding consistency and an edge of stability to a volatile situation.

I'm in the gym so I haven't seen it. But it's no more than I'd expect from a very good governor of the BOE.

He will do his best to calm markets, whether it will work, I very much doubt!...unfortunately!

I should really go to sleep at some point soon so I can have a few hours and then catch up with my planned days work... Don't particularly like the idea of going straight to work without sleeping!

Yeah he is a good governor of the BoE. And his speech was clearly aimed directly at the markets, cuts the kind of thing I'd expect and want to see more of from banks, business leaders and politicians.

No it would not. A vote to remain would have not have resulted in the falls we have just seen. Before we even start to negotiate trade deals imports prices are up by 6%

It really would. Any potential volatility sets a short term opportunity for acquisition.
