Pretty sure we had this conversation about a year ago? Perhaps you were pissed? The Maid was one of my haunts, but mostly just when I was keeping a low profile owing to misadventures in The Well, The John Baird or The Minstrel Boy.
Probably pissed. The Minstrel is a bit rough so avoided since I had words with some twat in there. How far away is The Spaniard? Went there once, that was a nice place.
Went to Sunderland v Everton game once and i was in this little pub about 2 miles from the ground. It was full of Sunderland fans and they were standing holding their beer looking out the window. I said to the landlord ' why are they looking out the window mate' he said ' they are watching their houses' rough as ****
The Spaniards is on Hampstead Heath, at the top near Kenwood House. Very nice round there. It’s famous as the pub where Ruth Ellis, last woman in the UK to be hung for murder, shot her lover. Probably a bit lively that night
My bessie mate lives in Hornsey and when I'm down there, we often go to the Spaniards for some scran. Last time ! was there, the ale was as flat as a witch's tit.
Sunderland really is a horrible place I think the shopping centres an old greenhouse as I recall and that's the best part . I know it sounds harsh but I think even people that live in Sunderland know how disgusting the area is in general.
I run a Recruitment Agency and I've told the staff not to even bother dealing with people from Sunderland as they never have a CV. The majority can't read or write. In this day and age that is shocking.
Swinton Town Hall is a thing of beauty. Shame they tacked Salford town hall onto it and ****ing ruined it. I like Swinton, got many good memories of the place and a lot of my mates still live there.
I was a postman in Hornsey. Long time I ago now. I knew every nook and cranny of the place. Happy days.
Newcastle is a nice place and yet down the road Sunderland is such a dump. No wonder the Geordies are on the up.
Sunderland came to Port Vale in the FA cup last season and our local paper reported that Sunderland fans were filling up bottles from the toilet taps to take fresh water back home
