I suppose it would depend on what they were bidding for though at that time. A new #1 Left Back or for cover, hoping Jose would sign. Surely they'd be willing to pull out a bit more for a left back now since er... we havent got any?

Still think this Pieters one seems more probable and Timmy K seems to like him.

PSV full-back Erik Pieters has played down rumours linking him with a move to Newcastle.

Following the sale of left-back Jose Enrique to Liverpool on Friday, Magpies boss is Alan Pardew is openly in the market for a replacement.

Speculation has since linked the Tyneside club with Pieters, who has replaced Giovanni van Bronckhorst as first-choice left-back for the Dutch national team.

However, the 23-year-old has distanced himself from the rumours, insisting that his club may not want to sell and that following the death of his grandmother his mind is currently not on football matters.

"I am not focused on football right now, only my family counts," Pieters told AD Sportwereld.

"Moreover, there must first be serious discussions with Newcastle and PSV must be willing to let me go."

Aye, Ferguson is fit until after the first 20 mins where he will inevitably be coming off limping. Does he not seem incredibly injury prone?

Whenever he limped off last season he was fine the next match, I think he was just a bit small and unready for full games. Apparently he's beefed up for the new season though.

  8. He isn't injury prone, he couldn't help the fact that Forster is **** and slide tackled him.

He's a young lad still developing. He may not have the stamina to attack for 90 mins, but he could still defend.

If we're going to play him at LB, i'll be happy as long as there's a mid partnering him in defense.

Wont play tomorrow, only just returned to training yesterday. I think Pardew will play it safe and go for Raylor (although I wouldnt call that particularly safe).

The worst thing is we're going to have a makeshift LB against...

There is nothing worse than playing a player who is already ****e out of position.

    Nervous about that big time.

  12. It depends if Gervinho plays as a RW, he sometimes plays as a striker or a CAM.

I think we should bulk up in our defense a bit. Always have someone helping Raylor and Simmo, double up on their wingers. They have no significant central mids now, the wings are their best bet.

Lucky Walcott's out. Not a bad idea that except I'd say Jonas is the only winger who really supports his full back.

did Forster do that in every game Ferguson played in, since he's NEVER lasted 90 mins for us.

I agree, I dont think he's quite got the physique/fitness for a full match yet rather than being injury prone, hope i'm right.

You mean some sort of hard working Left wing maestro who will get back and help defend? possibly one with a sleek ponytail, and a bit of South American flair?

Picturing everyone getting withdrawal symptoms and just shouting "Rep!" at their friends when they say something funny or clever.
