Yarrow 40/1

Sea The Stars half sister to Tartan Bearer and Golan, made her debut at Kempton last night in a nice fillies maiden, the winner Forte is a full sister to Talent and looks a nice prospect herself but Yarrow is screaming trip and looks like a really nice type. The two fillies with experience were handy all the the way and nothing was closing when Yarrow started to make up ground from way back in the straight, another furlong she would have won 5 lengths.

Musidora Oaks

She will certainly need all of the 12f of the Oaks Joe. I wouldn't discount the winner on pedigree either. By New Approach out of Prowess. Prowess looks extremely well bred. By World Champion Peintre Celebre (French Derby and Arc winner) out of Yawl who was by Rainbow Quest out of the Oaks winning Grundy mare Bireme. That looks sheer class to me.

PS. I expect there are plenty of others with tasty pedigrees as well; haven't looked at the Oaks yet.

I agree about Forte, full sister to Talent and wouldnt be surprised if she runs in the Oaks next year maybe via Newbury or Newmarket, I have a few in mind for it just now but Yarrow is the only one of them in the betting, I think someone must have been asking for a price with 365 for them to quote her.

Got 10 colts and 10 fillies for next seasons Fensters to follow <laugh>

Still plenty of maidens to go though so will probably be some changes.

Look forward to those Joe. See if you can get another cracker.

To be fair and apologetic, you got a lot of crap for that list but you smashed it up with the Oaks winner in the end.

As I said on the Tuesday thread

Interesting that Bluesky missed out the one I'm going to talk about and that is his mount in the 5.35, I've no doubt Bluesky is correct. Moore rides the filly Yarrow for SMS. This filly is by Sea the Stars out of Highland Gift, which makes her a half-sister to Golan and Tartan Bearer. Golan won his only race as a 2yo, Tartan Bearer was unluckily 2nd on his only 2yo start. Other siblings that ran as 2yos also ran only once, Leocorno winning and Long View being placed. So although Stoute doesn't push his 2yos first time out this family seems ready to do the job. I expect a promising run from this filly with a place likely.
My problem is that I'm torn between her and Talent's full sister Forte who is having her 2nd outing. She put in a promising performance first time out making up a lot of ground in the straight to finish 3rd. She did show that family tendancy to pull hard in the first few furlongs, but settled after that. If she settles today for me she should win.

Forte ran in a new bit in an attempt to make her settle better (a family trait). she may still run in the Fillies Mile. A lot will depend on how she recovers from this effort. She appeared to be pulling up on Tuesday so may have won by more if challenged. She also appears faster (and possibly better than her sister).

Yarrow may need 12 f but her brothers were good at 10f and Golan won the Guineas. By a 2000G winner and a good one Yarrow should be capable of being effective at 10f too. Stoute and Ballymacoll have at least one other filly who could be useful and that is Angel Vision (Oasis Dream out of Islington). She was their Fillies Mile entry.

Must admit Ron I was surprised that you stopped at Bireme, as of course she is the daughter of a woderful Ribot mare called Ripeck. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Cheers Bustino, that doesn't show up on RP where I was looking. Found it on pedigreequery though thanks.

Ballymacoll have another 2yo filly entered next week. Moruadh is a Fastnet Rock filly and a half-sister to Patkai, who won as a 2yo.
