I'm with Eon Next and never had a problem. Got the smart meter which saves me having to upload readings, DD has always been okay.

I’m with Eon and was lucky to get a 2 year fixed rate just a few weeks before the prices shot up just over 2 years ago. That 2 year fixed rate has just ended and I owe them £274 (the curse of having a hot tub!)
I’ve had the same email as you @rooch 3 saying I can make a one off payment of £620 and then my direct debit goes up by about £100 to £307 or pay nothing and my DD increases by about £150 a month to £359 per month!
The hot tub will be getting it’s winter shut down next week so our energy use over the next 6 months will be less than last year but the increase is scary having just come out of a fixed rate

I've had no issues with EOn mind, other than they keep pestering me as my smart meter is disconnected from the gas. I'm in a second floor apartment though so its an issue with the device connectivity range, not my fault they are crap.

I think it all comes down to luck of the draw, saw some horrendous reports about Octopus Energy when trying to collect imaginary debt from people for example, but they always score highly on customer satisfaction etc.

I haven’t had a reply since I emailed them and asked would you be happy being involved with a corrupt company who say i must pay £456 to get out of arrears when on their own website I owe nothing, I told them I wouldn’t want a company like this having access to my bank account so that’s why I’ve cancelled my DD.
Something else, how they play on words, they said I was £650 in credit with them. That’s strange my bank account says I’m £650 in the red yet their bank account says they are £650 in credit. Thieving bastards.

Used them for about four years. Seem pretty good really. Don't hound the hell out of you to take a smart meter, and have very good comms.

Expect worse. A lot worse. Welcome to the land of zero emissions nuttery.

Electricity prices have been inflated for years to help fund windfarms, the operators of which now want even higher contract prices. Much higher.

It's all about a crazy chase for an absolutely unattainable goal of UK Net Zero. Not only is it impossible without closing down modern society and probably reducing the population by twenty million, it will make zero difference.

Energy prices at least Electricity and Gas, are politically priced and have been since 2008.

But not to worry. When the entire country, and most of the West follows similar suicidal policies, China opens close to 100 coal fired power stations a year. They now have 3000 of them. 1000 fairly new ones.

Maybe all that CO2 will just stay in their bit of the atmosphere!
