I have always said to a few Northern friends, when they are making comments about "Southerners" as if we can be lumped together, that as far as I am concerned "Up North" is anything beyond Winchester! I don't care really who goes up, just as long as we do, and the sooner it is mathematically certain the better. It is looking very good, but weird stuff can happen. I fancy another disco at St Mary's on the last day, not 90 minutes of squeaky bum, thanks very much.

Thats it isn't it. Thats the feeling. Anyone looking in would say we were a shoe in for automatics but being a Saints fan you half expect it to all go up in smoke.

We have averaged just under 2 pts per game all season, if we were to maintain our seasonal form that would give us 91 points. So it is all looking good. Fingers crossed.

I'd rather get promotion on 7th April - oh, which would also relegate our opponents!
And then see Reading clinch auto-promotion at our place so we could all enjoy the party!! <party><diva>

I reckon that by beating Reading at home on friday 13th April will Confirm your promotion and even the title.!!!!
Who gets 2nd and 3rd is now the question. Still very much open for 10 teams,,, imo.

Mathematically it isn't possible to relegate Pompey on 7th because of their win against Birmingham. But better still, we can seal promotion on 7th!

    Stupid thing to say really

I said enjoy the prem to you becuase you are now 7 points clear of 2nd with by far the easiest run in of the three teams. So i am 90% certain you will now go up ... Not really fickle wishing you good luck in the prem next season is it?

No it is not. With us erring, on the side of caution is a habit forced upon us by the way that our club has performed in previous times.

If we win 5 of our last eight then I will happily tell you we are going up.

I am anticipating that the three top teams in central southern England: Southampton, Reading and Brighton will all be playing PL football next season.

I wanted that however I would rather they weren't relegated now. That could be the death knell for our greatest rivals. They are necessary for our club to be what it is and also for many of our friends and family. In my family the Pompey fans far outweigh the Saints fans. they are actually quite down to earth and supportive of how well Saints are doing. They wish it was the opposite way round of course but still interested and we talk about it with no arguments nor sniping.

Thank god I spent my first 3 months in my father's hometown of Winchester (actually he was born in Micheldever but near enough) before being swept up here as a 3 month old. lol However from one beautiful city (Winchester) to a very similar beautiful city (Lincoln). I guess that's why my Parents decided on Lincoln. The similarity to Winchester.
