William Hill's EPL Title odds. Man City 4/7 Arsenal 5/1 Man Utd 6/1 Chelsea 7/1 Liverpool 66/1 Tottenham 250/1 Everton 500/1 West Ham 1000/1 ~West Ham and Everton keep winning still they have longer odds than Liverpool. Not fair
66/1 who would bet on us with those odds? Although honestly the gap isn't huge yet. A decent manager might be able to perform a turnaround. Rodgers in charge and those odds are a joke. 250/1 more realistic.
Ever buy a lottery ticket? Less likely to win lottery than Liverpool win title. I'd absolutely put £10 on Liverpool with those odds. Sure, it's illegal for me to gamble on my state, but if I had £10m I could pay for some OJ lawyers.
I've only ever bought one lottery ticket. Didn't see the point after that. £11million was more than enough.
I always wait for the pot to be over $150mill before I buy a ticket. Figure when it's below that what's the point. $149mill is peasant money.
Even better odds in betfair: 8-1 and for LFC 90-1 (but might as well put that pound buying the lotto as someone here said!)
As with all betting, they're only good odds if they come in. If you lose it doesn't matter how long or short they are. Therefore, don't bet the odds, bet on what you believe to be the outcome. I still say Chelsea will win the league so at 8-1, I'll probably have a tenner
Unless you are infallible, Jesus, or Derek Asamoah, you can't possible KNOW the answer to the outcome. City are most likely victors but there is enough doubt that Chelsea or Klopp's Liverpool might beat them to make them not worth the risk. It only takes one winning long shot to make you more money than a dozen "sure things". So what if you lose 11 times out of 12. That twelth time puts you ahead long term.
I would never bet more than I could afford to lose... I don't really gamble more than a lottery ticket twice a year when the pot get ridiculously high... Even if it was legal here, I still probably wouldn't gamble, and if I did it would just be a quid or two at a time. Gambling should be for entertainment not income. You get entertainment out of a few quid the same you would several score.
Its a game that you want to win. If the bookies gave you odds of 1,000,000-1 on a two legged horse you wouldn't bet 1p on it because you know its not going to win. Betting on Liverpool at evens or 1,000,000-1 gives you the same return because we've got as much chance as that two legged horse
We're very unlikely to win... But I wouldn't say it's that impossible. We're only 6 games in and everyone else is crap. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that a new manager comes in, sparks new life, and we finish the season strongly. Unlikely, but I'd give it a hit at a million to one. £1 is nothing. It's a cup of coffee. I'd gamble that on a chance to be a millionaire.
