Squad is... Goalkeepers: Butland, Pickford, Pope Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Cahill, Delph, Jones, Maguire, Rose, Stones, Trippier, Walker, Young. Midfielders: Alli, Dier, Henderson, Lingard, Loftus-Cheek. Forwards: Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Vardy, Welbeck
All very Mediocre footballers bar Kane when he is fit. Hope we show some heart and desire this time at least
Shelvey has and should be in the squad. Him and Vardy would link well. Other than that I'm pleased with Southgate's choices.
I think that collection of forwards has a lot of promise. The midfield does look mediocre though. And the defence hardly inspires confidence. Hopefully Southgate and his staff will have a plan at least; a definite idea about how he wants the team to play in each game.
No he hasn't he's just playing in a better team. Bertrand has been a consitent player for years and should be starting every game for England.
Shelvey is a thousand miles from meeting any definition of a World Class footballer. The fact that he is probably no worse than others in that squad shows how lacking in creativity we are likely to be.
Pretty good squad overall. I would've had Shelvey over Welbeck as we don't need that many forward players and also Tarkowski over Cahill but aside from that it ain't bad. Amazed Rose got picked but no English LB has performed well enough this season. Harsh on Vardy, Sterling and Alli, those three are very good players. I like the look of Loftus-Cheek too, though I doubt Southgate will play him.
Bertie hasn't had a great season tbf. Though that's probably not his fault, it's hard to look good in a struggling side.
