He had some money, but when you spend 15mill on an unproven 18-yr-old, plus 2 on an even more unproven teenager, and then panic and buy the slowest player in the world, and a past-it Arteta, you have to point the finger at him. If he'd been sensible, he could've got 6 quality players for that.

Fair comment, but he has to work within the ridiculous wage structure as well (which supposedly they are changing to try and keep Van Persie, my opinion, at 27, he'll be off to win trophies...).

Cahill would have been ideal, 120k a week, couldn't do it, and to replace Fabregas would have meant at least a 100k a week player.

I'm not saying he's blameless, as the defenders he's brought in have been shambolic, bar Vermaelen & Koscielny, but I do think he has a tougher gig than United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool, shelling mega wages.

The thing about Arsenals wages is a myth. Their wage bill is £124m, which is only usurped by the Manchester clubs and us, but even then not by much. Plus they offer far larger bonuses than any other club (£12,000 for each game they win).

Arsenal haven't been able to go out and spend much on individual players but they sure as hell can pay them top wages. Spurs are the complete opposite, they spend huge money on transfers (and always have done) but their wage bill is tiny. Wages will always cost more than transfers (9 times out of 10)

We got Cabaye for 4.3mill, and our absolute wage cap is 50k. Santon for 5mill, Ba on a free etc.

Isn't Arsenal's wage bill falsely high though as they have such a large number of first team squad members (even though they don't play, they have stacks of people on full pro contracts)?.

    Everyone must answer.

A Mackem mate just said if Obertan scores, he won't watch another football match.

Mine is, if John O'Shea scores a volley, I will buy a Sunderland ST.

    What's yours?

If Tim Krul doesn't look like a fop-haired offspring of 2 upper class woofters, I will get a Toon tattoo on my ball sack.

This could have made an amusing article actually marra.
