Steve Avery spoke very well about Southgate's character at the CASTrust AGM. It might even stop the sun from turnipping him if Sweden beat England.

See a return to Uruguay's spoiling tactics, of which they are traditionally the masters. Belgium v Brazil could be game of the tournament.

But Chelsfield Village Fayre is on tomorrow, and I don't know if I can miss it. Last year was good. At the end I only had £3 left, so decided to spend it on the nearest tombola, a charity stall which did not advertise its name. After losing my £3 I asked them which charity they were, and they replied, without so much as a blush "Bickley Conservative Party".:emoticon-0121-angry

I don't know which is more surprising - you donating to the Conservative Party, or you taking £3 out to spend in the first place.

You have to admire their fundraising ingenuity, posing as a charity. Soft-hearted old me gave them my spare change too.

Did they claim to be a charity? Or was it just the nearest tombola stall?

please log in to view this image

The Fair this year is on Saturday 7th July 2018 - gates open at 12 noon and it takes place on Chelsfield Cricket Green BR6 7RN. Adults £3.50 and children under-14 FREE. Includes free programme.

We will be showing the Quarter Final

Very inconveniently, the England team have decided to be good but not good enough to be playing the second Quarter Final on Saturday. So we will be showing the match on a 65" screen from our luxury TV lounge which will look startlingly like a Gazebo. It will be next to the beer tent (most important) have an area in front set out so that you can watch the match seated, standing, lying face down, on one leg, take your pick.

So, no need to stay away and miss all the music and flying - come along and enjoy the day with us and wave a flag or two!

All the other tombola stalls were proper worthy charitable causes. The Bickley Conservatives plonked themselves in the middle without claiming to be anything. Crafty or what?
